Payroll & Expenses Manager

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Payroll and Expenses Manager on behalf of our client, a global manufacturing company based in Co.Cavan The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the payroll function and manage employee expense submissions for accuracy and policy compliance.

Key Responsibilities



Oversee the end-to-end monthly payroll for all Group Office employees in Ireland.


Ensure timely and accurate submission of payroll data to our third-party UK payroll provider.


Set up all monthly salary payments and liaise with the bank to ensure all payments are processed.


Manage and process employee benefits such as pensions, BIK (benefit-in-kind), bonuses, and share schemes.


Prepare payroll journals for upload into ERP system.


Receive and reconcile non-Irish/UK payroll recharges.


Manage and review employee expense submissions for accuracy and policy compliance.


Ensure timely reimbursement of approved expenses.


Monitor and enhance the company’s travel and expense policy.


Prepare uploads from expenses platform SAP Concur to SAP ERP system and ensure accurate general ledger coding.


Ensure compliance with Revenue/HMRC guidelines and statutory deadlines.


File payroll submissions in line with Real Time Reporting (RTR) requirements via Revenue Online Service (ROS).


Manage any benefits received under the small benefit exemption scheme.


Ensure compliance with Revenue ERR reporting requirements.


Prepare monthly employee cost reports and reconcile to forecasts.


Deliver insights on expenses being incurred and identify cost saving opportunities.


Analyse and report on employee travel bookings through our third-party travel partner.


Maintain a financial controls environment compliant with the Group Accounting Manual and readiness for audits by internal and external audit. 


Prepare monthly headcount reports. 


Prepare and submit all CSO reports.


Coordinate with HR to maintain up-to-date employee records.


Manage the onboarding/offboarding process of employees including profile and workflow set up for;


SAP Concur Expense Management


SAP Concur Invoice Management


Third party travel system 


Co-ordinate with HR to identify a suitable HR/Payroll system solution.


Engage with Group Office Finance and IT to implement the identified system solution.


Investigate and lead opportunities to deploy AI and automation solutions within payroll processes (e.g., intelligent journal creation, reporting automation).



Key Requirements



Minimum of 5 years experience in payroll processing, preferably in a multinational or complex organisation.


IPASS qualification required


Strong knowledge of Irish and UK payroll legislation, taxes, and Revenue/HMRC filing requirements.


Experience managing employee expenses and Revenue ERR reporting.
