Overview Catalyx is seeking an Environmental Health & Safety Specialist to join our team and work on our customer site in Galway.
Who We Are: Catalyx specialises in the science of operational processes. With a footprint across North America and Europe, the company carefully automates and services R&D, production, packaging, and delivery processes—globally—with a sophisticated blend of products, technologies, and lifecycle services. The company was formed in 2022 after CXV Global (Crest Solutions, Xyntek, and VistaLink) and Panacea Technologies joined forces. For over three decades, Catalyx’s partnership-based culture has helped organisations in production-intense, highly regulated industries optimise their operational efficiency, performance, and safety.
The Role: This position will support the design, implementation, and maintenance of Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) programmes to ensure compliance with regulatory, corporate, and industry requirements. The role will also involve supporting the implementation of ISO14001:2015, acting as a subject matter expert for EHS topics, and advising site teams on areas such as Industrial Hygiene, emergency response, and contractor management. This position is onsite, 5 days a week.
Responsibilities Implement, maintain, and sustain ISO14001:2015 for the site by working with an external vendor.
Act as SME for Industrial Hygiene and oversee related risk assessments and monitoring.
Manage chemical safety, including approvals, SDS databases, and chemical registers.
Lead and coordinate emergency response planning and training.
Manage contractor safety and the permit-to-work process.
Provide EHS training including induction, manual handling, chemical awareness, and contractor management.
Deliver presentations and updates for EHS management reviews.
Perform regular audits, inspections, and walkdowns to monitor compliance.
Investigate incidents and accidents, ensuring CAPAs are closed out effectively.
Support risk assessments, JSAs, and ensure control measures are implemented.
Prepare, update, and review EHS documentation, procedures, and systems.
Maintain site EHS metrics and ensure timely reporting to corporate systems.
Chair EHS team meetings and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
Provide guidance and training on EHS software and act as site SME for system use.
Requirements Third-level qualification in Science, Engineering, or EHS.
5+ years’ experience in EHS, ideally within a regulated industry.
Familiarity with ISO14001 and ISO45001 standards.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work collaboratively, with a practical and problem-solving approach.
