Objective of this post: The principal objective of the post is to participate in the teaching, facilitation and examining of the undergraduate and graduate teaching programmes of RCSI Department of Health Psychology, and to support the delivery of a case based undergraduate psychology programme for the medical, pharmacy and physiotherapy curricula. This post is a full-time post for 12 months. RCSI is seeking a professional who would like to develop their experience working as an academic in a multicultural environment and who demonstrates energy, initiative and excellent communication skills. The post-holder, who will be based in the Department of Health Psychology in the RCSI School of Population Health, will help coordinate Psychology teaching and learning materials for undergraduate and graduate medical, pharmacy and physiotherapy students, and will be encouraged to have involvement in research activities, including securing research funding as principal or co-applicant, and publishing their research in high quality publications at a level commensurate with experience. RCSI is seeking a professional who is passionate about teaching, who would like to contribute to working as an academic in a multicultural environment. The successful candidate will demonstrate energy, initiative and excellent organisation and communication skills. The post- holder will be based in the Department of Health Psychology within the School of Population Health. Specific Responsibilities include: Participating in the administration and delivery of current teaching programmes, teaching modalities and assessment in Health Psychology for undergraduate and graduate students. Contributing to the development of the curriculum, new teaching programmes, teaching modalities and modes of assessment Participating in the development of RCSI's teaching and learning strategy including the effective use of technology-enhanced learning Liaising with and providing support to colleagues in the RCSI Schools and across the RCSI international campuses in Bahrain and Malaysia, as required Supervising RCSI student research Undergoing programmes of training and development as may be required Performing such other related duties as may be required Contributing to quality assurance/quality improvement and accreditation of existing modules Representing the best interests of the Department, School and RCSI at all times Person Specification Essential: A PhD or equivalent in psychology Strong teaching interest and skill set, as evidenced by experience of, a proven track record in, and enthusiasm for undergraduate teaching and assessment in psychology Enthusiasm for the development of teaching and assessment materials in psychology and health behaviours, and the ability to engage your students to successfully transfer this passion and learning Effective communication style appropriate to audience and situation Capacity for original thought and the ability to produce original and up to date teaching methods An ability to continuously adapt and innovate teaching methods to ensure students' full understanding Demonstrate an interest in seeking ways and opportunities to support students' whole development.
