The Role Reporting to an Assistant Principal, the Higher Executive Officer (Standard Scale) will be a key member of the Gambling Regulatory Authority of Ireland in pursuit of goals of the organisation. Supporting the Assistant Principal, the successful candidate will advise and interact with senior management in respect of their areas of responsibility and play a central role in the successful establishment and effective operation of the Authority. They will be responsible for contributing to the development and fulfilment of GRAIs strategic objectives and supporting the management of the projects, budgets and development of policies where required. Key Responsibilities The Higher Executive Officer is a middle management role, with varied responsibilities including but not limited to: Drafting and implementing policies, regulations, and operational frameworks to support the GRAIs strategic objectives. Assessing licensing applications and monitoring licensees for compliance with legislative and regulatory requirements. Managing complaints and disputes, engaging with stakeholders, and ensuring timely resolution in line with regulatory guidelines. Liaising with external stakeholders as appropriate and maintain a robust relationship with stakeholders. Maintain a thorough understanding of the latest developments in gambling and gaming products and technologies. Monitor and enforce compliance with gambling regulations, providing guidance and updates to operators as necessary. Leading and participating in cross-departmental projects and initiatives as required. Preparing reports, data analysis, and briefings for senior management and external stakeholders. Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time. Essential Criteria In order to be eligible to apply for this role you must have/demonstrate in your application form that you meet the following essential criteria: Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline such as law, business, public administration, finance, data analytics, or related fields. A minimum of five years of relevant professional experience. Excellent IT skills, including MS Excel, MS Word, MS Outlook and MS PowerPoint. Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with a range of stakeholders. Desirable Criteria Professional certifications in relevant technical or regulatory fields. Knowledge of international gambling regulations and best practices. Experience in public sector, including familiarity with government processes, regulatory frameworks, and public service values.
