We are looking for an experienced Director of Nursingwho lives in County Mayo or is willing to relocate to join an established nursing home. What You Bring to the Team: Third-Level Degree in Nursing (Essential) Registered with An Bord Altranais (NMBI) with an active PIN (Essential) Post-registration qualification in healthcare management or equivalent (Essential) Valid certificates in Infection Control, Manual & Resident Moving & Handling, Medication Management, CPR, Dementia Care, and Safeguarding of Vulnerable Adults Minimum 5 years of post-registration nursing experience (Essential) Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in elderly care within the last 6 years (Essential) Minimum 3 years of management/supervisory experience in a healthcare setting within the last 6 years (Essential) Strong ability to communicate effectively with residents, families, staff, and external healthcare providers Proven leadership and team management skills, with experience in resource planning and staff development In-depth knowledge of HIQA standards and regulatory requirements Key Responsibilities: Leadership & Team Management: Lead, support, and mentor nursing and care teams, fostering a culture of excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement. Staff Development: Oversee induction, training, and ongoing professional development to ensure staff competence and regulatory compliance. Clinical Governance: Implement and monitor policies, procedures, and HIQA standards to maintain high-quality, person-centered care. Care Quality & Compliance: Supervise clinical practices, medication management, infection control, and documentation to ensure safety and compliance. Resident & Family Relations: Build strong relationships with residents and families, ensuring satisfaction and effective communication. Collaboration: Coordinate with GPs, hospitals, and external agencies to deliver integrated, holistic care. Recruitment & Performance Management: Participate in hiring, mentoring, and performance reviews to develop a skilled and motivated team. Health & Safety Oversight: Ensure a safe environment through regular risk assessments, fire safety drills, and adherence to health and safety policies. Operational Efficiency: Manage staffing rosters, resource allocation, and facility maintenance to support smooth daily operations.
