The Role: To ensure excellent maintenance of the buildings, infrastructure and the overall appearance of The Lough Rea Hotel & Spa. Assist in the day to day maintenance of public areas, guest rooms and hotel grounds. To ensure the day-to-day operations are carried out in line standards of the Lough Rea Hotel & Spa. Reporting To: You will report directly to the General Manager, Deputy General Manager & Accommodation Manger (or such person as designated by management). The Hotel: Lough Rea Hotel and Spa is one of the most highly recommended and well-known venues in Galway. Situated just outside the quaint town of Loughrea overlooking Loughrea Lake. Guests can enjoy the Rooftop Garden Bar and Sky Lounge, which boasts panoramic views of Loughrea Lake and the Galway countryside. The hotels facilities of 91 bedrooms, Shore Island Spa, ample free car parking on site, Lir Bar & Brasserie, Abbey Restaurant, along a large conference suite and 6 breakout rooms catering for conferences up to 500 people. One of Six properties within the S Hotel Group, there are significant progression and development opportunities for ambitious and driven hospitality professionals. Key Responsibilities include: Responsible for maintaining/replacing defective materials and equipment reported to maintenance. Prioritise maintenance requests from the various departments within the property. Look after the maintenance of the hotel building and ensure that it contributes to a better hotel environment Assist in the Maintenance of Hotel and grounds to require standards and procedures. Ensure compliance with and provide accurate and timely advice on statutory regulations eg; inspections, company policies, health and safety, buildings, mechanical and electrical plant, fire precautions, hygiene, water quality and liability Provide competent hands-on skills to ensure that all systems including (but not limited to), electrical, sewage, plumbing, heating and lighting are maintained in good working order and ensure that any defects are corrected promptly and properly. Responsible for the outside lighting check. Responsible for grounds upkeep, removal of litter, waste management etc. To ensure that standards are maintained in accordance with the departmental SOP. To ensure that equipment is not abused and is used for its specific purpose only. To be responsible for your own safety and of those around you. To report on duty on time. To ensure that the highest possible standard of personal hygiene, dress, appearance, body language and conduct is maintained at all times. To attend all statutory training. To attend other training sessions as per the departmental training plan or as when required by management. Maintain a safe hygienic and healthy working environment. To ensure all accident, incidents and suspicious occurrences are reported to the relevant people and to assist in providing all relevant backup. To be familiar with and adhere to all rules and regulations of the hotel with specific regard to: Hygiene Fire Procedures Health and safety at work Security regulations To maintain good liaisons and communications within the department. To handle lost property according to the agreed standard. To offer any suggestions or ideas for improvement to management. Spot the areas of improvement and take measures to improve those areas. Plan maintenance and refurbishment works in a manner which will maximise room occupancy. To carry out any other reasonable tasks as requested by management. As a member of staff of the Hotel you must be willing to carry out duties outside of your department if Required to do so. To carry out any duties assigned by the General Manager, Operations Manager & Accommodation Manager The Ideal Candidate: Proven experience in Maintenance.
