Role Purpose: The Vascular Departmentin Blackrock Clinicoffers a wide range of non-invasive vascular diagnostic investigations. The successful candidate will be in integral member of the multi-disciplinary vascular team, working closely with 3 Consultant Vascular surgeons. The post holder will be expected toprovidea full range of vascular examinations, both as part of a team and independently. Qualifications/Experience: Possess the BSc in Clinical Measurement from Dublin Institute of Technology or equivalent. OrpossessCertificateinMedical Physics and Physiological measurement from Dublin Institute of Technology or its equivalent Membership of theCollege and Society for Clinical Vascular Scienceor equivalent society. Candidates must have a minimum of 3 years satisfactory relevant post qualification experience. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Key Responsibilities: Assessment, Planning, Implementation & Evaluation: At all-times treating the patient with dignity and respect, while exercising discretion and maintaining their confidentiality. To perform and interpret the following: Carotid Ultrasound, Venous, Lower Limb Arterial, Upper limb Venous, Upper limb Arterial, Graft Scanning, pseudo aneurysm scanning, Segmental Pressures and Ankle/Brachial Index.Laser vein guidance an advantage. Tobe responsible foraccuratestoring of reports generated from the above tests. Keepaccuratedocumentation of these procedures. To ensure that all records are properly and accuratelymaintained. To be professionally responsible for all aspects of the postholdersown work. Participate in the teaching,trainingand supervision of new orjunior staffand students. Contribute to the development and implementation of policies and guidelines. Maintaining the department environment to promote good infection control and health and safety at work. Providing comfort,reassuranceand support to patients in times of high anxiety or distress. Function effectively inan emergency situation. Adapt to changing workloads. Participating in discussion about patient care and ward/departmental development including handover and team meetings. Demonstrating an understanding of the importance ofaccuratedocumentation and contributing towards recording daily reports of patient activity and progress. Know and practice within legal requirements including those set down by the Society of Vascular Technicians of Great Britain and Ireland. Report any malfunction or defects in equipment relevant to the person. Support the Head of Department in the implementation of initiatives aimed at improving and developing the service of theVascularDepartment. Listening to and being able to accept constructive feedback. Undertake when necessary administrative and clerical duties tofacilitatethe smooth running of the department. Complying withpolicies and procedures of Blackrock Clinice.g Health and Safety Infection Control including disposal of waste,sharpsand infected linen Accident and Incident Reporting Complaints Procedure Hospital Fire Policy and evacuation Communications Skills Communicateappropriate withcolleagues and other members of the health care team. Communicate in a manner that avoids antagonism, reducesconflictand prevents undueanxiety. Recognise self-limitations and seekassistance. Attend and contributetostaff meetings and team briefing. Accept constructive advice whenappropriate. Report all incidentsimmediately, which may adversely affect a patient,colleagueor Blackrock Clinic. Communications clearly and appropriately with patients, their relatives/friends, colleagues and all members of the MDT team including responding to queries answering the phone, takingmessagesand passing on written and verbal information to patients. General Expectations Function within the limits of TheCollege and Society for Clinical Vascular Scienceand hospital policies,proceduresand standards. Support the philosophy,objectivesand goalsof BlackrockHealth. Observeappropriate linesof authority. Maintainstrict confidentialityregardingall patients and activities of Blackrock Clinic. Continue to develop personal knowledge and skills. Seekand take education opportunities in addition to those provided by the hospital. Provide direct supervision to other members of the team whenappropriate. Participate indeveloping and providingquality care within Blackrock Clinic. Assistwith the orientation,teachingand supervision ofnewand juniorpersonnel. Present a professional appearance andconform to the dress,hygieneand infection control policies of the Clinic. Isalwayspunctualwhen on duty. Accept responsibility for Acting Up in specific instances, as assigned.
