Description

We are expanding our hedging, pricing and trading team to support continued expansion into the commercial & residential energy supply sector. We are looking for an ambitious energy pricing analyst to join our team of energy and commodity market experts. The team fosters collaboration, continuous development, and excellence. Our work is data-based; therefore, a third-level degree in a quantitative subject such as engineering, mathematics, finance/economics, or the sciences is preferred. At least 2-4 years’ work experience in the industry is desired, with any gas and electricity pricing or trading experience being highly advantageous.

You should have knowledge of how to build a residential 24hr or Day Night electricity tariff from its costs of sale components and understand what drives the profitability of residential tariffs. Be aware of the competitive landscape in the retail electricity and gas markets and have a broad understanding of the wider energy commodity risk environment. We welcome candidates with a desire to know and understand more about how our customers consume energy and how wholesale and retail energy markets will develop in the future. You will take responsibility for designing electricity, gas and heat tariffs for our customer base and will also take the lead in implementing, tracking and trading hedge strategies, along with providing best in class analysis of the markets we operate in.

As a data driven company, ideally you should have an understanding or the ability to gain an understanding of tools used to store, query, and process databases.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead/Support the production of residential electricity, gas, and heat prices and tariffs
- Conduct competitor analysis and help us understand the market we operate in
- Work with our hedging team to manage and report on price risk
- Assist in the day to day trading activities of the company by training as a member of our trading team
- Work with management to produce board reports on our commercial activities and exposures
- Produce tools to help automate new or existing business processes
- Report activities or findings in a concise and transparent manner
- Assist in the provision of market insights to our customer base

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

- Previous experience in electricity pricing in the Irish retail market and the ability to build up a 24hr residential tariff from first principles is essential
- Be resourceful and proactive. We are looking for a self-starter who enjoys having accountability and ownership while being part of a collaborative team
- Strong problem solving, analysis and attention to detail
- High level of proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Strong data handling & programming skills are highly desirable with some experience in tools such as Python, SQL and Tableau
- Comfortable working with large amounts of data
- Clear, concise and structured communication skills
- Ability to follow, map and improve processes
- Adaptable, flexible, able to change priorities
