Applications are invited for a temporary post of a Special Lecturer/Clinical Tutor (Clinical Pharmacology & Therapeutics) within UCD School of Medicine. The Special Lecturers/Clinical Tutors play a major role in supporting, organising and delivering clinical teaching for our students on rotation in our affiliated Teaching hospitals. The Clinical Tutors instruct and supervise students during their clinical attachment, provide lectures and tutorials as part of the formal clinical curriculum and assist with the preparation of clinical examinations. They provide academic support and career mentoring to students and ensure that the clinical rotation supports the learning objective of the relevant module. In addition, they provide classroom-based teaching in Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics to students based in Belfield for their pre-clinical studies and the transition to clinical learning phase, as well as for final medical students preparing for the Prescribing Safety Assessment. Most Clinical Tutors are also actively involved in our clinical or medical education research working with a specific Principal Investigator and may be undertaking a higher research degree (e.g. MD, MCh, MAO, MSc or PhD). These individuals are responsible for undertaking research experiments or data reviews and disseminating their findings through publication as a thesis, in academic journals or at scientific meetings. Our subject area is also linked into the national Clinical Pharmacology SpR scheme. All Clinical Tutors are part of a vibrant community of academic staff who pass on their clinical experience and expertise to the next generation of medical professionals. The School provides academic support and training such that the Tutors themselves develop their own educational expertise and leadership. Special Lecturer/Clinical Tutor_2010 (0081_X) Salary Scale: €68,891- €81,126 Per Annum Appointment will be made on scale and in accordance with the Department of Finance guidelines. Please note if you are currently on an HSE scale, a salary determination process will take place to ensure placement on the correct point on the scale.
