Summary of Post We are excited to announce a fully funded, 2-year, postdoctoral position in lung cancer research. This position will be based at RCSI Education and Research Building at Beaumont Hospital. Our team (https://dowling- is dedicated to discovering new therapeutic options for the treatment of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), with a focus on KRAS driven NSCLC. This specific funded project will be focused on investigating novel targets for the treatment of brain metastasis in NSCLC, and developing ex vivo models for the study of brain metastasis. We are seeking candidates with a keen interest in cancer biology, immunometabolism, and ex vivo and in vivo modelling of cancer. The successful candidate will be working within a highly motivated and collaborative environment, and will have the opportunity to contribute to an exciting and rapidly evolving field. Specifically, the duties of the post are: Investigate novel targets for the treatment of brain metastasis in NSCLC Develop ex vivo models for the study of brain metastasis Career out research related to the project aims. Key techniques will involve tissue culture, flow cytometry, metabolomics. Present regular progress reports to members of the research group or to external audiences to disseminate and publicise research findings. Prepare, in consultation with supervisors, material for publication in national and international journals and presentations at international conferences. Carry out routine administrative tasks associated with the research project/s to ensure those project/s are completed on time and within budget. These might include organisation of project meetings and documentation, financial control, risk assessment of research activities. Carry out some post-graduate supervision, under the direct guidance of a member of academic staff. Qualifications - (Essential): A BSc or Master's degree in relevant discipline PhD in any discipline related to cancer biology Knowledge & Experience - (Essential): Some relevant recent research experience. Previous experience and competence with molecular biology techniques (in particular flow cytometry and cell culture). Sufficient breadth and depth of specialist knowledge in cancer biology and of research methods. Excellent communication skills. Independent and pro-active. Knowledge & Experience - (Desirable): Experience with in vivo work. Experience in mass spectrometry.
