Overview The Medical Council is seeking to recruit an Committee and Council Executive Officer (EO grade) on a permeant basis to assist the Medical Council in supporting Council, Committee & Working Groups.
Key Responsibilities Providing administrative support for Council, Committee & Working Groups that fall within the responsibilities of the section - including supporting the reporting manager in drafting agendas, compiling and circulating briefs and drafting of minutes.
Organising and managing internal and external meetings.
Attending meetings and take minutes when required.
Supporting Council/Committee meetings via online conferencing platforms and in person
Drafting correspondence.
Organising and assisting with ongoing internal and external communication (including telephone calls, email and letters) with individuals and organisations relevant to the work of the team.
Observing organisational policies, procedures, good practice guidance relevant to the role and to assigned tasks and procedures
Performing any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
Co-ordinate governance activities such as compliance with statutory requirements such as Ethics in Public Office returns and maintenance of the Register of Interests for Council Members
Build and maintain effective relationships with key relevant external stakeholders and professional bodies as appropriate, to continuously develop knowledge and learning.
Work closely with their reporting manager in delivering on a range of key activities including, business planning, annual and other reporting, corporate governance matters and business process improvements.
Actively engage with the risk framework of the Medical Council.
Essential Criteria At least two years' satisfactory experience working in a busy, high pressure administrative role preferably in an organisation which operates procedures and activities within a statutory framework.
A minimum qualification requirement is that the applicant holds a Leaving Certificate or equivalent educational training qualification.
Essential Characteristics Strong interpersonal skills - the successful candidate must be comfortable engaging with a variety of stakeholders, and colleagues at different grades.
Communicate with tact, understanding and discretion with colleagues and members of the public when dealing with enquiries/information requests.
Good presentation skills.
Maintain a high level of confidentiality and discretion at all times when dealing with information.
Highly organised approach to all tasks, with strong attention to detail in executing complex tasks and procedures to manage competing priorities
Be proactive and solution driven in addressing any challenges or issues as they arise
Forensic attention to detail
Negotiation skills
Proficient use of Microsoft Office package / Decision Time or any other online cloud-based meeting system to support meetings
Ability to remain calm under stressful situations
Details of this Appointment Position Type: This appointment will be offered on a permanent basis, 6-month probation will apply.
Salary: Starting salary will be at €37,919.00 which is the first point of the Executive Officer PayScale.

There will be salary increment each year in line with the Executive Officer Grade PayScale and subject to satisfactory performance, until the maximum point on the scale has been reached. The rate of remuneration will not be subject to negotiation and may be adjusted from time to time in line with Government pay policy.
Annual Leave: 23 working days plus public holidays
Hours: 35 hours per week, Mon-Fri.
Location: The Medical Council's offices are located at Kingram House, Kingram Place, Dublin 2. We operate a hybrid working model with both remote working and a current requirement for on-site attendance two days per week. This may be reviewed in time.
Pension: The Medical Council offers a pension through the Public Sector Scheme. Contributions to the scheme will commence on joining the organisation. Candidates currently working in the Public or Civil Service may transfer their pension.
