Design Engineer Location: Limerick Gi Group is partnering with a major engineering contractor to hire a Design Engineer for upcoming Uisce ireann projects across the region. This position is ideal for someone who wants to play a key role in progressing essential water infrastructure works from early concept right through to construction delivery. Role Overview As a Design Engineer, you will contribute to the development of high-quality design packages, working closely with a multidisciplinary engineering team. You'll support the full design lifecycle, carry out technical assessments, and ensure all design outputs meet the required safety, environmental, and industry standards. Key Responsibilities Produce and develop detailed design documents, drawings, and technical specifications. Ensure all designs consider safety, environmental impact, constructability, and cost-effectiveness. Work collaboratively with engineers, project managers, and wider project teams. Engage with clients, stakeholders, and site teams to gather information and validate design intent. Complete site inspections and assessments to support design decisions. Identify opportunities for innovation and sustainable design solutions. Stay up to date with relevant standards, technologies, and best practice through ongoing CPD. Skills & Experience Required Proficiency with AutoCAD and ArcGIS is essential. Prior design experience on Uisce ireann or similar utilities projects. Strong ability to develop practical, effective design solutions. Confident working both independently and as part of a collaborative team. Strong problem-solving capability and attention to detail.
