Job Title: Trainee Accountant

Overview

My client is looking for a a motivated and detail-oriented Trainee Accountant to join their team in Kerry. This entry-level role offers an excellent opportunity to develop your accounting skills while working alongside experienced professionals with clients from all industries. The ideal candidate will be eager to learn, with a strong interest in pursuing a career in accounting.

Responsibilities

- Assist with the preparation of financial statements and reports.
- Perform bookkeeping duties, including posting transactions and reconciling accounts.
- Assist with the preparation of VAT returns and other tax filings.
- Support in monthly and year-end closing procedures.
- Assist with payroll processing and related tasks.
- Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with accounting standards.
- Liaise with internal teams and external auditors as required.
- Assist with budgeting and forecasting processes.
- Participate in ad-hoc accounting projects as directed.

Qualifications & Requirements

- A minimum of a relevant qualification (e.g., a degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field) or pursuing ACCA/CPA qualification.
- Strong numerical and analytical skills with attention to detail.
- Basic understanding of accounting principles and practices.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Proficient in MS Excel and other accounting software (experience with Sage or similar is an advantage).
- A strong willingness to learn and develop professionally.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks.

Desirable Skills

- Previous internship or work experience in an accounting environment (preferred but not essential).
- Knowledge of Irish tax regulations and financial reporting standards (helpful but not required).
