Overview Strategic Operations Sourcing Specialist - Medtronic Mervue. This role is located at Medtronic’s Mervue Galway manufacturing site and serves as a sourcing liaison with site operations, planning, quality and finance to resolve supply-related issues. Medtronic aims to deliver reliable, high-quality products and processes by maintaining accountability, giving voice, and acting.
Responsibilities Maintain and promote strong relationships with suppliers, Supplier Quality Engineering, Manufacturing, Planning, Finance, Quality, Commodity Management, and other internal customers.
Provide project management and sourcing expertise to cross-functional, cross-divisional commodity teams.
Facilitate development and execution of long-term strategies to optimise quality, cycle/response time, technology, risk, and total cost.
Use problem-solving techniques to identify supplier delivery root causes and resolve production continuity events.
Mitigate risk, leverage technology and purchasing power, improve processes and systems, and reduce total cost of ownership and acquisition.
Participate in daily site stand-ups and participate in relevant staff meetings.
Perform special projects including Lifecycle Management and support material cost reduction initiatives (Price Point Variance).
Support cash flow initiatives: Last time buy/Strategic and excess & obsolete processes and follow-up scrap disposition at sites.
Qualifications & Experience Requires practical knowledge and demonstrated competence within the job area, typically obtained through advanced education and experience.
Minimum of a Level 8 degree in Business Administration, Materials Management or a related Supply Chain field is preferred, with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.
Nice to have Experience in leading and influencing negotiations, project management, troubleshooting and problem-solving, strategic thinking, and collaborative team building.
Strong computer skills: SAP, Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Project. Advanced Excel knowledge (VLOOKUP, pivot tables, formulas, macros).
Knowledge of procurement/planning principles, regulations, theories, and processes.
Understanding and experience with integrated manufacturing software systems.
Understanding of industry terminology, processes, workflow, and materials.
Exposure to supply chain, planning, purchasing, materials, and inventory control environment.
