Ornua is an Irish dairy co-operative that markets and sells dairy products on behalf of its Members, Ireland’s dairy processors and, in turn, Irish dairy farmers. Ornua is Ireland’s largest exporter of Irish dairy products and has annualised sales of €3.4 billion. Headquartered in Dublin, Ornua has a strong global team of 2,900 employees, operating from 10 business units worldwide, including 13 production facilities. Ornua’s core purpose is to build profitable routes to market for Irish dairy products.
The Group is structured across two divisions: Ornua Foods and Ornua Ingredients. Ornua Foods is responsible for the marketing and sales of Ornua’s consumer brands, including Ireland’s most successful food export, Kerrygold, as well as Kerrygold Dubliner, Pilgrims Choice, Forto and BEO milk powders.
Ornua Ingredients is responsible for the procurement of Irish and non-Irish dairy products, for the sale of dairy ingredients to food manufacturing and foodservice customers across the world, and for managing volatility through de-risking and trading strategies.

WHY THIS ROLE IS VALUABLE
The Commercial Accountant will be based in Dublin and will report directly to the Head of FP&A, Ornua Foods. The ideal candidate for this role would have strong commercial acumen and a good understanding of how P&L works. They would have a proven track record of supporting non-finance functions with insight and analysis.
KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:
1. Financial Performance Management
1. Deliver monthly review of results along with insightful commentary on performance
2. Prepare periodic (weekly, monthly, quarterly as appropriate) reporting on spend along with cause of change analysis vs Budget and forecast and review with budget owners
3. Periodic working capital & inventory reporting for Foods division
2. Budget and forecasting
1. Support the annual budget process for Foods Division, delivering a clear, initiative driven business plan and ensuring consistent approach across all Foods P&Ls in both assumptions and output
2. Act as conduit between central functions and Foods BUs to facilitate smooth delivery of relevant models and assumptions for budget and forecast
3. Support the Central Foods Functions in preparation of corporate budgets
4. Preparation of detailed quarterly forecasts throughout the year
3. Financial Planning and Analysis / Business Partnering
1. Support preparation of strategic financial plans for Foods Division
2. Provide ad-hoc support for Foods Division as and when required including project based financial analysis for Operations, Procurement etc.
3. Support the delivery of our Innovation Pipeline through regular financial reporting and analysis on performance as well as potential future opportunities
4. Process design and continuous improvement of financial rigor across Foods division
5. Support where required on the Foods S&OP process
KEY REQUIREMENTS:
1. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and advanced skills in Excel highly desirable. Experience with Power BI and/or Copilot is an advantage but not mandatory
2. Experience in a business partnering role, working closely with non-Finance functions an advantage
3. Good team player with strong communication and interpersonal skills
4. Commercially astute with well-developed analytical skills
5. Highly motivated and dynamic
6. International experience welcome
