Job Description We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join us as a Senior Manager, Master Data Governance - Data Lead, across the Source to Settle (STS) business process in Gilead to develop a long‑term roadmap and implementation plan for the deployment of SAP master data management activities within Gilead and its associated affiliates. This position will manage Data Requirements and Governance related to our business operations across STS. Candidate will play a key role ensuring success in SAP implementation, sustainment, and optimization by collaborating cross‑functionally with program sponsors, process owners, and IT. Additionally, the STS Data Lead will support projects for continuous improvement and optimization in business processes around master data creation, maintenance, and effective utilization. Master Data Governance refers to the process of managing and maintaining master data in a consistent, accurate, and reliable manner across the Gilead organization. It involves establishing rules, policies, roles and workflows to ensure the quality, integrity and lifecycle management of master data. This data is foundational for processes across Sourcing, Procurement, Supplier Invoice Processing, Payments, and Supplier Performance Management. This role will be responsible for establishing the end‑to‑end linkages for master data between different process areas, and different systems. Responsibilities (include but are not limited to) - Data Quality Management: Ensuring accuracy, completeness, consistency, and uniqueness of master data. Tools and checks can identify duplicate or incomplete records. - Create Data Quality Rules, build dashboards by material types to measure the data quality. - Build Data Dictionary at an attribute level that defines ownership of each attribute. - Establish the attributes that should have LOV. Once identified, ensure LOVs follow data standards that have been established. - Data Standards and Policies: Establish clear rules of how master data should be created, updated and managed. Examples include naming conventions, data fields required for each material type. - Define Roles and Responsibilities: Define who is responsible for creating and approving master data records, ensuring compliance with data policies, auditing data accuracy and updates. - Build Data Lineage: Provide a clear view of the origin, transformation, movement, and consumption of data across an organization. - Process for Data Migration / Industry Standards: Document the process for data migration in case of divestiture/acquisition. - Engage strategically with business partners functions by providing appropriate guidance on data operations specific to STS. - Maintain and assist with the implementation of STS Governance policies, procedures, techniques, standards, and systems. Contribute to the development of complex new concepts, styles, and operation standards. - Assist with the preparation of project plans and manage projects to successful and timely completion. Provide expertise to the team and functional areas to anticipate and identify complex project issues that challenge achieving strategic goals. - Act as STS Master data owner for cross‑functional or external contacts. - May assist in developing system and improvement data configuration activities/projects supporting Gilead's existing and future business plans. - Be responsible for personnel management, select, develop, and evaluate staff to ensure the efficient operation of the function. - Oversee daily operations and escalation of data operations functions. Ensure SLAs exist and monitor response time. Review and approve quality actions including Non‑Conformances (NC) and/or Corrective Action Preventative Action (CAPA). - Assist project team in determining and socializing project value and end‑user benefit. - Provide updates on status and blockers during data meetings. - Document and Escalate key issues and risks to Data & leadership team. - Work with other SAP Workstreams (OTC, PTD, RTR) to ensure critical data dependencies are managed and adhered to. - Responsible for coordination between business units and leads, to assess impacts and effects. Education & Experience - 5+ years of experience in Data Lead role in life sciences and/or healthcare or biopharma, industry preferred. - Experience with large‑scale organizational change efforts. - Experience with large‑scale SAP Implementations. - A solid understanding of Data Governance. - Experience and knowledge of data management principles, methodologies and tools. - Able to develop solutions to a wide range of complex problems, requiring regular use of ingenuity and innovation. - Exceptional verbal and written communication skills; able to create written communication that is properly structured providing clear, concise messages that draw well‑supported conclusions. - Strong negotiation skills. - Good organization and time‑management skills, including working knowledge of basic project‑management tools and techniques. - Experience in systems deployment, implementation, and lifecycle management. - Strong project management or organizational effectiveness experience. - Ability to balance multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment while delivering on‑time, high‑quality results. - Strength in communicating and working effectively with broad partners in various functions. - Strong quantitative and qualitative skills. - Ability to objectively evaluate options, trade‑offs and develop management‑level recommendations. - Self‑directed and able to work independently with minimal direction. - Works well in a dynamic, fast‑changing environment. - Comfortable with public speaking and leadership presentations. - Enthusiastic team player.
