Electrical Engineer - Electrical Design & Schematic Drafting

Position Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Electrical Engineer with a strong background in electrical design and schematic drafting to join our engineering team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and reviewing electrical systems and schematics for a range of industrial and commercial projects. This role requires precision, creativity, and strong technical expertise in electrical engineering principles, CAD-based design, and compliance with industry standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Electrical Design & Drafting
- Develop detailed electrical designs and schematics for power distribution, control systems, and automation projects.
- Produce accurate wiring diagrams, single-line diagrams, and control panel layouts.
- Use industry-standard CAD/ECAD tools (e.g., AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, or similar) to create and update technical drawings.
- Ensure designs meet project requirements, client specifications, and applicable codes and standards.
Technical Engineering Duties
- Perform electrical load calculations, cable sizing, and equipment selection.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate electrical systems with mechanical, civil, and architectural designs.
- Conduct design reviews and implement revisions based on feedback from clients, engineers, and project managers.
- Provide technical input during procurement, manufacturing, and installation stages.
- Liaise with clients, suppliers, and contractors to clarify technical requirements.
- Support project scheduling, cost estimation, and material selection for electrical works.
- Ensure timely delivery of design documentation in line with project milestones.
Compliance & Quality
- Ensure all designs comply with relevant IEC, BS, or other applicable standards.
- Conduct design risk assessments and adhere to safety regulations.
- Maintain quality control processes for drawings and documentation.
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
- 5–10 years of professional experience in electrical design and schematic drafting.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, or equivalent ECAD software.
- Strong knowledge of electrical engineering principles, power distribution, control systems, and automation design.
- Experience with electrical calculations, cable sizing, and equipment selection.
- Understanding of relevant electrical standards (IEC, BS, EN, etc.).
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in design documentation.
- Chartered Engineer status (or working towards it).
- Experience in low voltage (LV) and extra-low voltage (ELV) systems.
- Knowledge of PLC/automation integration in electrical designs.
- Experience with BIM/Revit MEP for electrical services.
