The Brothers of Charity Services Ireland - West Region in South Connemara is a community-based, person-centred service focusing on the needs and abilities of adults with intellectual disabilities, all of whom use Irish as their first language. The service aims to support individuals in achieving a full and valued life within their community, creating opportunities for valued social roles while living close to friends and family.
The Role:
The Area Manager will oversee the development and management of the Bruach na Mara Adult Services in the West Sector, ensuring the service reflects the ethos and vision of the Brothers of Charity Services Ireland. The manager will foster relationships with the people supported, their families, staff, and the wider community.
Reporting To: Sector Manager, Adult West Sector.
Qualifications and Experience:
- A nursing qualification (RNID/RNMH) is advantageous and must be registered with NMBI or hold a relevant third-level qualification in Health/Social Care. Candidates must be eligible for registration on the Social Care Register at CORU by 30th November 2025. See approved qualifications at CORU.
- Minimum of 5 years management experience in the health sector.
- Management qualification.
- Budgetary, financial, employee relations, and team management experience.
- Full clean Irish manual driving license.
Skills:
Strong leadership, managerial, and team-working skills are essential to coordinate service teams and ensure high-quality service delivery. Excellent communication and organizational skills, with current knowledge of person-centred practices. Proficiency in ICT and IT systems is required.
Working Hours:
75 hours per fortnight, with flexible hours between 8 am and 8 pm over seven days, including participation in an on-call roster. The role may require external meetings outside normal hours and interfacing with external agencies.
Remuneration:
Salary aligned with Department of Health DON Band 4 scales (as of 01/03/2025): €76,446 per annum, with 6 increments. A nine-month probationary period applies, with possible extension. The position is permanent, full-time, pensionable, and includes 28 days annual leave.
