Head of Security – Dublin City Centre – Temp to Perm Opportunity – Full Time
A prestigious cultural institution in Dublin is seeking an experienced Head of Security to oversee the safety and security of its employees, visitors, and collections. This is a pivotal role in ensuring the protection of a historic site while maintaining compliance with fire and security regulations.
The Head of Security will lead the development and implementation of security strategies, oversee daily operations, and ensure proactive risk management. This position requires a hands-on approach, with a visible presence throughout the premises, including on-site rostered duty.
Please note this is a 6 month temporary opportunity with potential of permanency.
Salary: €72,511 pro rata
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and enforce security policies, procedures, and protocols.
Oversee security operations across indoor and outdoor areas, ensuring a safe and welcoming environment.
Manage a team of security staff, providing training and guidance to maintain high standards.
Work closely with third-party security contractors and statutory authorities.
Ensure compliance with fire safety regulations, acting as the designated Fire Safety Manager.
Monitor and manage security systems, access control, and traffic flow on-site.
Investigate incidents, maintain records, and ensure GDPR compliance.
Collaborate with internal teams, including visitor engagement, collections management, and senior leadership.
Manage security budgets and ensure cost-effective resource allocation.
The Ideal Candidate:
Extensive experience in security management, preferably within a museum, cultural institution, or historic building.
Strong leadership and team management skills, with experience in training and motivating staff.
Excellent problem-solving, crisis management, and decision-making abilities.
Familiarity with fire safety systems and regulations, with relevant fire safety training.
Proficiency in using security technologies, including CCTV, access control systems, and emergency response plans.
Ability to manage budgets and ensure compliance with security best practices.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage with internal and external stakeholders.
Qualifications:
Minimum of 5 years of experience within security at a senior level.
A degree in Security Management, Fire Safety, Criminal Justice, or a related field is preferred.
Professional security certifications (CPP, PSP, or CFPS) are desirable.
First Aid and Fire Warden training are an advantage.
