Our client a highly regarded Charity with a Head office in North Dublin are currently looking to recruit an Accountant to join them on a contract basis. As a key member of the finance team, the Accountant will play a key role in providing a comprehensive financial management and accounting service for the organization which ensures that resources are well managed and that proper financial, accounting and internal control processes are in place. The Accountant will collaborate closely with the Finance team, operational managers, clinical teams, and external stakeholders to provide financial insights that support effective decision-making and quality service delivery for individuals with disabilities. The role also involves contributing to the organisations mission by upholding the values of stewardship, collaboration, and courageensuring the responsible use of public funds, fostering teamwork, and leading with resolve in financial governance matters. Role will involve Financial Management & Reporting Produce monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports Analyse financial performance and variances Prepare and monitor budgets and forecasts Ensure compliance with public financial procedures (HSE National Financial Regulations) and accounting standards Support with production of reports for Board of Directors and sub-Board committees Manage capital budget reporting against funding received Support the Head of Finance with dynamic, cross- functional assignments and projects that require flexibility and initiative Internal Controls & Compliance Develop and maintain systems of internal financial control Ensure adherence to relevant policies and procedures Support internal and external audit processes Strategic Planning & Advice Provide financial insights to support policy and operational decisions Contribute to the development of financial strategies and business plans Advise senior management on financial implications of projects and initiatives Prepare presentations for executive management and the Board of Directors. Record and calculate key performance indicators on financial performance. Team Leadership & Development Supervise and mentor junior finance staff, including conducting one to one performance and development reviews To provide a key support role to the Head of Finance Promote a culture of continuous improvement and professional development Lead or participate in cross-functional project teams Supervise and enable other team members to carry out their responsibilities, ensuring appropriate delegation of responsibility and authority Review the conduct and completion of assignments of staff in accordance with the operational plan and expected quality standards Stewardship, Governance & Public Accountability Ensure transparency and accountability in the use of public funds Engage with stakeholders across departments and agencies Professional Knowledge and Experience Demonstrate knowledge and experience relevant to the role as per the duties & responsibilities, eligibility criteria and post specific requirements of the role. Maximise the use of ICT, demonstrating excellent computer skills particularly Microsoft Office, Outlook etc. Demonstrate the ability to work in line with relevant policies and procedures. Strong background in accounting, excellent analytical skills and a proactive approach to problem solving Demonstrate commitment to developing own professional knowledge and expertise. Commitment to a Quality Service Demonstrate evidence of practicing and promoting a strong focus on delivering quality service for internal and external customers and an awareness and appreciation of the service user. Ensure attention to detail and a consistent adherence to procedures and standards within area of responsibility. Embrace and promotes the change agenda, supporting others through change. Demonstrate flexibility and initiative during challenging times and an ability to persevere despite setbacks. Standards, Regulations, Policies, Procedures and Legislation Contribute to the development of policies and procedures and ensure consistent adherence to procedures and current standards within area of responsibility Effectively discharge the day-to-day operations, including compliance with National Financial regulations and all CRC policies and procedures Maintain own knowledge of relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and practices to perform the role effectively and to ensure standards are met by own team Maintain own knowledge of relevant regulations and legislation g. HSE National Financial Regulations, Health & Safety legislation, Employment legislation, FOI Acts, GDPR Essential Requirements A professional accounting qualification (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CPA) Minimum 3 years of post-qualification experience in a relevant finance role Previous experience of preparing Financial Strong understanding of financial standards and principles. Experience with SORP preferred. Excellent analytical, communication, organisational and interpersonal skills Proven ability to manage teams and deliver results under pressure including undertaking performance management processes. Proficient in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel) Strong writing and project management Good presentation skills Commitment to public service values and ethical standards This role will be based on site.
