The AWS Network Alerts team is looking for Software Development Engineers to build highly scalable monitoring systems for one of the world's largest and most complex networks. Millions of customers depend on this infrastructure—whether for shopping on Amazon, streaming content on Kindle, or building their businesses on AWS. Our mission is to keep this network reliable, fault-tolerant, and self-healing, and our success depends on intelligent anomaly detection and automated diagnostics—that's where you come in.
Join a world-class software development team that operates like a startup within AWS. As an SDE, you'll work on large-scale distributed systems that process trillions of events per hour, leveraging anomaly detection and rule engines to proactively detect and remediate network impairments before they cause impact. What you will build will be used by network engineers, operators, and help keeping AWS services running reliably worldwide—ensuring the network infrastructure remains available 24x7.

Key job responsibilities
What You'll Be Working On:
- Building the next generation of anomaly detection and eventually ML-based monitoring engines.
- Ensuring the operational health and scalability of our core network observability systems.
- Diagnosing and resolving complex technical issues to prevent recurrence.
- Designing and implementing fault-tolerant distributed systems.
- Influencing architecture and engineering excellence across the team.

About the team
AWS Network Alerts is responsible for the design, delivery, and operation of one of the AWS's core network monitoring and detection engines. We work on some of the most complex and data-intensive challenges, analyzing thousands of variables impacting AWS's global network. Our team includes software, systems, and data engineers, scientists, technical program managers, and software managers, all working together to solve massive-scale monitoring challenges. - Experience (non-internship) in professional software development
- Experience designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems
- Experience programming with at least one modern language such as Java, C++, or C# including object-oriented design
- Knowledge of professional software engineering & best practices for full software development life cycle, including coding standards, software architectures, code reviews, source control management, continuous deployments, testing, and operational excellence
- Experience building complex software systems that have been successfully delivered to customers- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
- Experience in machine learning, data mining, information retrieval, statistics or natural language processing
- Experience with Kafka or similar distributed pubsub systems and stream processing engines like kstream, Sprark, Flink etc.
