The Disputes Lifecycle team develops new capabilities for Mastercard and its customers. We protect cardholders and card issuers and help them manage their daily spending patterns. To enable us to uphold the high standard of these applications we are looking for out-of-the-box thinkers to play a critical role in the upkeep and continual health of these products.

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Software Engineer to join our dynamic team. As a Principal Software Engineer, you will play a critical role in leading the design, development, and implementation of our software solutions. You will have the opportunity to work on complex and innovative projects, collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive technical excellence and deliver high-quality solutions while proactively adding scalability and enhanced value to these products.

Role:

1. Lead the end-to-end software development life cycle, including requirements gathering, design, implementation, testing, and deployment.
2. Participate in designing highly scalable, fault tolerant, and performant systems on-prem and in cloud.
3. Ensure project implementation(s) and technical delivery are compliant with solution architectural design and best practices.
4. Ensure that technical designs and deliveries are aligned with business needs, infrastructure capabilities and security & compliance requirements.
5. Evaluate current and emerging technologies via Proof of Concepts or similar.
6. Assist with project scoping, sizing, prioritizing, planning, and estimation.
7. Identify and mitigate existing business risk(s) associated with solution architecture and technical designs.
8. Analyse ITSM activities of the platform and provide feedback loop to development teams on operational gaps or resiliency concerns.
9. Support services before they go live through activities such as system design consulting, capacity planning and launch reviews.
10. Maintain services once they are live by measuring and monitoring availability, latency, and overall system health.
11. Scale systems sustainably through mechanisms like automation and evolve systems by pushing for changes that improve reliability and velocity.
12. Practice sustainable incident response and blameless post-mortems.
13. Ensure that technical designs and deliveries milestones are accomplished on time.
14. Liaise with stakeholders to understand business needs and translate them into technical requirements, ensuring alignment with overall company goals.
15. Find resilient and reliable solutions to integration challenges with vendors and/or acquired entities, that meet Mastercard's high security and quality standards.
16. Set priorities, objectives, and driving deliverables within global technology domains and sub-domains.
17. Engage with the broader technical community to anticipate developments in innovation, often evaluating new solutions and recommending future business platform system requirements.
18. Provide technical leadership and mentorship to a team of software engineers, guiding them in best practices, code reviews, and problem-solving.

All About You:

1. 10+ years' experience as a Software Engineer / Software Developer / Full Stack Developer.
2. Strong knowledge of software development principles, design patterns, and best practices.
3. In-depth knowledge of JavaScript, Node.js, Express, React.js, and Angular.js.
4. In-depth knowledge of Cloud provider (PCF, AWS, Azure), Container and Container orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
5. In-depth knowledge of Advance Java, Spring boot and Spring framework, Persistence framework, Performance tools, Apache Nifi, Apache Spark, Object storage, Messaging service, Testing framework.
6. Understanding of use cases for advanced design to implement efficient code.
7. Understanding of Application Programming Interface (API) standards and experience cataloguing to drive API/service adoption and commercialization.
8. Proven track record of designing and developing large-scale, enterprise-grade software solutions.
9. Able to handle multiple high priority demands while driving consistent results.
10. Strong communication skills – both verbal and written – and strong relationship, collaborative, and customer service skills.
11. Able to work as a member of a diverse and geographically distributed team.
12. Ability to quickly learn new technologies, development tools, and frameworks and mentor junior team members.
13. Bachelor's degree, or equivalent work experience in Information Systems, Information Technology, Computer Science or Engineering.
