Boston Scientific is seeking a Supplier Engineer II on a permanent basis to join our team.
Job Purpose:
Supplier Engineer II in the Galway Supplier Engineering Team: this concentrates on all aspects of supplier selection, material cost reduction, supplier process & material changes and technical support, with a focus on Chemical components purchased in BSC Galway (e.g., adhesives, solvents, drugs, etc). The Galway Supplier Engineering Team is responsible for the technical leadership within the 3rd party supply chain and achieving year‑on‑year material cost reduction targets.
Key Responsibilities:
- Technical Team Member on cross‑functional teams, comprising representatives from Purchasing, Supplier Quality, Commercial and Business Units responsible for all aspects of Supplier Management, with a focus on Chemical components purchased in BSC Galway (e.g., adhesives, solvents, drugs, etc).
- Demonstrates Technical skills in Materials Management and Chemical manufacturing processes and applications in the medical device industry.
- Identifies, supports and leads Material Value Improvement Projects (MVIPs) throughout the Supply Chain.
- Works closely with Manufacturing Engineering colleagues to identify material cost‑reduction opportunities through line tours, brainstorming sessions, etc.
- Works with Procurement, Supplier Quality Engineering, Receiving Inspection & Business Units to ensure that the components meet established requirements.
- Communicates effectively with Internal & External Stakeholders.
- Identifies and evaluates new suppliers as part of a cross‑functional team.
- Evaluates technical changes requested by suppliers for purchased parts.
- Contributes to the development, maintenance and improvement of Supplier Management Policies and Procedures.
Education & Experience:
- Requires expanded conceptual and technical and/or functional knowledge in own job function.
- Technical knowledge and skills in Materials Management and Chemical manufacturing processes and applications in the medical device industry.
- Holds at least 3 years’ experience in a relevant engineering field.
- Demonstrates working knowledge of business and industry practices and company processes to accomplish own work.
- Strong problem‑solving skills.
- Explains information of limited complexity to others in straightforward situations.
- Organizes, presents and explains data/information to internal and cross‑functional audiences.
- Demonstrates technical competency and good communication skills when reporting information to peers and/or management.
