We are currently seeking to recruit a Senior Traffic and Transportation Professional. Our ever-increasing project folio and successful positioning on frameworks with local authorities, the National Transport Authority & Transport Infrastructure Ireland has generated positions in our offices in Dublin, Cork & Waterford. We have a significant and expanding workload in the traffic and transportation engineering sector. Current projects include:

1. The development and preparation of Transport Strategies/ABTAs for large towns and Local Areas
2. Leading multidisciplinary design teams and partners in developing transport networks for new towns, residential & commercial developments in accordance with DMURS
3. The design & appraisal of Active Travel schemes (walking & cycling) in urban and rural environments including greenways (preliminary and detailed)
4. The design of a number of significant bus priority schemes (preliminary and detailed design)
5. The design of various traffic management schemes (including environmental improvement and traffic calming schemes of towns and villages)
6. Providing assistance/advice to other departments in DBFL (roads/highway design, street network design in accordance with DMURS, car park design, service access strategies)
7. Providing transport related advice and services to support high profile clients in the development of large residential, commercial and educational developments including the development of major new towns and Strategic Development Zones

DBFL has excellent relationships with the many clients that we work with on a regular basis. We work on the principle that we are the first company that they think of when they require transportation consultancy services. In order to facilitate the continued expansion of this section, DBFL urgently requires Senior Transportation Engineers & Planners to lead the delivery of schemes for public and private clients.

Key roles and responsibilities:

1. Reporting to a Director, successful candidates pending experience will display the following key traits and skills:
2. Excellent verbal and written communication skills
3. Strong numerical skills and problem-solving abilities.
4. Display a good understanding of design principles, national / local authority standards, technical guidance documents such as DMURS, DMRB, TII SRW etc
5. Ability to interrogate baseline information and prepare innovative / cost effective design solutions for public and private clients using the latest design suites / software
6. Have multi-disciplinary design co-ordination experience and be able to present design solutions effectively & holistically within an overall project team
7. Ability to mentor junior staff in developing their own technical expertise.
8. Good planning and organisational skills.
9. Familiar with the preparation of tender submissions

Desired qualifications and requirements:

1. At least 6 years traffic and transport experience
2. Good written and verbal communication skills
3. A relevant engineering/planning degree and either hold or are working towards Chartered status
4. Ideally hold a relevant postgraduate degree
5. Have extensive knowledge of current transport policies and design standards such as DMURS/Cycle Design Manual
6. Experience in the management of small to medium sized transportation projects, teams & budgets
7. Be proficient in the use of ARCADY, PICADY, OSCADY and TRANSYT
8. Knowledge of further modelling software such as Vissim/Paramics & Saturn
9. Experience in ArcGIS is also beneficial
10. A current driver’s licence is desirable
