The Role

We are looking for an experienced, highly motivated Senior UI Engineer to work in an exciting and dynamic environment. Experience in the travel or retail industry would be an advantage.

What you will be doing:

1. Translate business requirements into the design and development of UI and test small to medium sized features to the highest standards.
2. Understand the business drivers behind each feature.
3. Gain feedback continuously from users, customers, and stakeholders.
4. Write reusable code and libraries (with matching documentation) to a standard which makes it quick and easy to maintain the code in the future.
5. Take ownership of UI technical decisions and provide leadership on our UI initiatives within the projects and company.
6. Contribute towards initiatives to improve the software development process.
7. Optimize applications for performance, stability, and availability for mission-critical systems.

Skills and Experience

You will need to have:

1. BS or MS in Computer Science (or related technical discipline) or equivalent industry experience.
2. 5 years' experience as a front-end /UI Developer/ JavaScript developer with the curiosity and desire to learn new platforms, technologies, approaches, libraries, and languages.
3. JavaScript /Typescript programming with experience of MVC frameworks ReactJS.
4. Knowledge and experience with HTML5, CSS3.
5. Knowledge of web standards, responsive web design, performance, accessibility.
6. Experience leading UI projects with 3 or more UI developers working with stakeholders at each level in the organization.
7. Experience with full lifecycle software development, the associated tools, processes and methodologies including modern front-end build pipelines and tools.
8. Experience consuming/publishing REST APIs.
9. Disciplined creator of automated tests for your own code including testing frameworks such as jest.
10. Knowledge of UI layouts, SASS, LESS, Bootstrap, and the CSS GRID system.
11. Understanding of UX and UI principles.
12. Good knowledge and practical experience of client-side build/config management.
13. Good understanding and experience of code versioning tools, such as Bitbucket or Git.
14. Good experience of debugging using JavaScript-based tools like Chrome Developer Console.
15. Exposure to Continuous Integration/Delivery pipeline for cloud, including Jenkins, Docker, etc.
16. Agile Software Development experience with Kanban or Scrum.
