Position Available: Clinical Nurse Specialist (Cardiology)
Cpl Healthcare, in collaboration with the esteemed Private Cardiology Practice, COS Cardio, is currently seeking an experienced Clinical Nurse Specialist (Cardiology) to join their dynamic team in Cork.
About the Practice: Operating out of the Cork Clinic, Western Road and Bon Secours Hospital, Cork, COS Cardio, is dedicated to delivering exceptional cardiovascular care. With a focus on advanced diagnostic testing, multimodality cardiovascular imaging, interventional cardiology, and structural heart procedures.
Role Overview: This is a permanent, part-time position (24 hours per week with option to increase hours if desired) primarily stationed at the Cork Clinic, with weekly ward rounds held at the Bon Secours Hospital, Cork. As a Clinical Nurse Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in the advancement of expert nursing practice within their practice.

€30-40 per hour depending on experience.

Key Responsibilities:
- Assessment of patients independently in a nurse-delivered clinic under the supervision of the consultant cardiologist in the Cork Clinic, Western Road. These will be general cardiology patients with conditions including heart failure, hypertension, dyslipidaemia, coronary artery disease, and valvular heart disease.
- The Nurse will be required to work autonomously in providing specialist assessment, advice, and management for patients with general cardiology conditions who present to the clinic.
- Apply blood pressure and Holter monitors to patients and perform ECGs.
- Occasionally perform phlebotomy if required.
- Assist with ward rounds when necessary in the Bon Secours Hospital, Cork.
- Communicate effectively with patients, their families, and General Practitioners in the management of patients.
- Assist in working up patients for transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) and left atrial appendage occlusion.
- Assist with discharge letters and typing clinic notes.
- Provide continuous support and guidance to patients and their families throughout their cardiac investigations and interventional procedures.
- Assist consultants in assessing and caring for cardiology patients, facilitating seamless coordination with the Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT).
Requirements:
- Registered General Nurse (NMBI) with a Midwife Board qualification.
- Preferably holds a Post-Graduate qualification in a related field.
- Possesses a minimum of three years' recent acute care experience in cardiac nursing practice, with at least two years in the advanced practice role of Clinical Nurse Specialist preferred.
- Experience at CNM1 or CNM2 level essential.
Competencies:
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and expand the nurse-led cardiology clinic under the supervision of the Consultant Cardiologist.
- Organize and coordinate patients' appointments for the clinic and testing. Secretarial support will be provided.
- Should have excellent IT and typing skills and be familiar with Microsoft Word and Excel. Full training will be given on how to use the medical software, iMedDoc.
- Strong proficiency in assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation within the realm of cardiology.
- Demonstrated clinical skills, coupled with a passion for ongoing education and research.
- Proven ability to effectively coordinate care and collaborate within a multidisciplinary team environment.
