Principal Engineer- Automation

Hybrid role, 3 days on site.

Location: Stryker, Model Farm Road, Cork

As our Principal Engineer, you will:

- Drive a culture of automation, innovation, and continuous improvement. Provide technical oversight of multiple automation projects and support engineers developing and implementing projects, while working closely with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of automated systems.

- Have deep technical expertise, strategic thinking, and strong leadership capabilities to develop and implement automated solutions that enhance our operational efficiency and product quality.

- Devise, lead, and manage engineering programs from concept through to production readiness.

- Mentor and develop engineers, fostering a culture of excellence and innovation.

What you will do:

- Become a Technical leader of engineers working on the Automated systems. Oversee automation projects from conception to execution, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.

- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify automation opportunities and prioritize initiatives.

- Develop technical solutions to complex problems where analysis of situations requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors.

- Lead the design and implementation of automation strategies across projects.

- Lead design, development, testing & refinement of automated systems, subsystems & components.

- Support code reviews and ensure adherence to coding standards. Develop and maintain automation frameworks and tools to streamline processes.

- Develop documentation for automated systems to allow for standardization, e.g. Dynamic URS, simplified change control for automated systems, and Automation systems specifications that meet the requirements of the different standards.

- Be a Technological expert, willing to source, investigate, and implement technological and automation advances.

What you will need:

Required

- BS in Engineering Level 8 Honours Degree

- A minimum of 8 years of automation engineering/systems experience.

Preferred

- Strong understanding of automated control systems such as Allen Bradley & Siemens, and industrial automation. Proven experience with automation tools (e.g., PLC, SCADA, HMI).

- Demonstrable ability to lead significant projects and initiatives.

- To be a Technological expert, willing to source, investigate, and implement technological and automation advances, capable of technically leading a multi-disciplined team.

- To be a confident and effective decision maker, with a proven technical leadership ability to negotiate and influence others.

- Experience in Automated Packaging, Lamination, Vision, and Micro-assembly desirable.
