What You’ll Do as a Senior Legal Counsel, Technology
In your role, you’ll collaborate with different people across a range of skillsets. Here’s a flavour of your day-to-day:
1. Delivering high quality and timely legal advice to get the best outcome both legally and commercially on all technology-related matters, including business critical digital transformation initiatives.
2. Negotiating, drafting and reviewing a broad range of ICT and outsourcing contracts, in partnership with relevant stakeholders and with the support of external counsel where necessary.
3. Building strong relationships and collaborating across a range of business functions, including retail, technology, marketing, finance, people & culture and supply chain.
4. Influencing strategic and operational decision making by stakeholders at all levels of the Primark business.
5. Participating in the development of a high performing legal team with specific responsibility for managing direct reports.
6. Staying abreast of emerging technologies (AI, blockchain etc.) and their legal implications for Primark’s business and ambitious expansion plans.
7. Effectively collaborating with outside law firms when needed and coordinating advice for a non-legal audience. Managing timelines and budgets for this as required to ensure maximum value for the Primark business.
What You’ll Bring
Here at Primark, we want everyone to feel valued – so please bring your authentic self to work, of course with some other key experience and abilities for this role in particular:
1. Qualified lawyer with at least 7-10 years PQE from a leading law firm or in-house legal department.
2. Strong technology and commercial contract drafting and negotiation skills.
3. Experience coordinating and managing large projects and contributing to their success.
4. History of developing effective working relationships and influencing across all levels of a busy organisation.
5. Familiarity preparing a legal strategy and navigating complex issues.
6. International experience or experience working in the fashion or retail sectors is a plus.
7. Enthusiastic and commercially savvy legal adviser with a reputation as a problem solver.
8. Team player with strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
9. Strategic thinker who can facilitate business decisions that are grounded in a practical application of law and business goals.
10. Prioritises and manages a busy workload whilst maintaining consistently high standards and meeting deadlines.
11. Capable of applying a rigorous legal interpretation and challenging when necessary, while helping drive business objectives.
