Policy & Governance Support Officer (Temporary, Part-Time) Location:Blanchardstown Commitment: 2 days per week for 1216 weeks Reporting to: Project Coordinator About the Organisation: This charity works to promote equality, inclusion, and empowerment for a specific disadvantaged community in Ireland. The organisation engages in advocacy, research, education, and capacity building to support individuals and groups to access their rights, participate in decision-making, and improve their quality of life. Role Purpose: The Policy & Governance Support Officer will assist the Coordinator in reviewing and updating organisational policies in line with the requirements of the Charities Regulator and other statutory or funding bodies. The role will also support the implementation of new initiatives to strengthen governance, systems, and compliance frameworks across the organisation. This is a hands-on role that involves administrative coordination, drafting and reviewing documentation, and liaising with staff, board members, and external stakeholders. Key Responsibilities: Policy Review & Development Assist in reviewing and updating existing organisational policies and procedures in line with best practice and regulatory requirements. Support the drafting of new policies where gaps are identified, working closely with the Coordinator and Board. Ensure policies reflect the organisations ethos, cultural sensitivity, and commitment to inclusion. Governance & Compliance Support the Coordinator and Board in strengthening governance processes. Assist with documentation required by the Charities Regulator and funding bodies. Maintain accurate records and version control of policy documents and compliance materials. Administrative & Systems Support Provide general administrative support for meetings, documentation, and communications. Help maintain filing systems and databases to support policy and governance work. Assist in developing templates, forms, and other tools to improve internal processes. Stakeholder Engagement Liaise with staff, volunteers, and Board members to gather feedback on policy updates. Build strong relationships across a cross-cultural team environment with empathy and understanding. Contribute to a collaborative, inclusive working atmosphere. Person Specification: Essential: Proven experience in policy development, governance, compliance, or administration within the community, voluntary, or public sector. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Excellent organisational and systems skills, with attention to detail. Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities. Experience working in or with cross-cultural, community-based environments. Strong relationship-building skills and empathy. Desirable: Knowledge of the Charities Governance Code and/or Irish regulatory frameworks for charities. Experience working with voluntary boards or committees. Familiarity with project coordination, evaluation, or reporting to funders. Understanding of issues affecting disadvantaged or marginalised communities.
