POSITION OVERVIEW

Windows Kernel Developers develop and maintain a selected subset of the core kernel infrastructures, both in the SUSE enterprise products and upstream.

JOB SCOPE

The Kernel Developer will be responsible for, but not limited to:

1. Developing, debugging and testing kernel level code using the C language
2. Exercising/validation of system from user space, knowledge of user space API
3. Supports the design, development, and maintenance of major system components
4. Manages device driver development and support (one or more of USB, network, graphics, video, mtd, storage, power management)
5. Design and maintenance of CI/CD

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

1. Minimum of 7 years of professional experience in software development
2. Proficient in Windows, Linux and/or Mac operating system
3. Proficient in C programming
4. Experienced in the following:
5. Computer architecture and server platform hardware
6. System software development in C and Python
7. Internals of Linux, Mac and/or Windows operating systems

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

1. Working knowledge of VMM technologies like VMware/Xen/KVM/Hyper-V Experience.
2. Experience with memory management and Kernel programming.
3. Knowledge about SR-IOV, SIOV, DMA and PCIe.
4. Experience with virtualization and containerization (Python virtual environments and Docker)
5. Atlassian Suite (Jira, Confluence, Crucible)
6. Subversion exposure Familiarity with ARM architecture a plus
7. Solid knowledge of Linux kernel internals (process scheduler, memory management, concurrency/synchronization, memory allocation, file systems) and networking or storage subsystems architecture
