Job Description: Production Manager Company: Consort Cases Position: Production Manager Reports to: Directors Location: Unit 17-20, Cork Road, IDA Industrial Estate, Waterford X91PY92 Salary D.O.E. - €60-75k Role Summary The Production Manager will be responsible for overseeing daily manufacturing operations to ensure that production targets related to quality, output, efficiency and delivery schedules are consistently achieved. This role requires a strong blend of leadership, technical expertise, and strategic planning to manage resources effectively while driving continuous improvement initiatives. The Production Manager will also play a key role in integrating and optimising Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems to enhance production planning, inventory management and operational transparency. Key Responsibilities Planning and Scheduling Develop, communicate, and manage short- and long-term production schedules to meet customer requirements and business growth targets. Ensure staffing, machine utilisation and material availability align with the production plan. Lead daily meetings, proactively address performance issues and track progress against production goals. Assist in reviewing incoming sales orders concerning delivery schedules. Production Management, Monitoring, and Control Lead the day-to-day production activities, overseeing the entire production process. Implement cost control measures to reduce operational and production expenses. Identify opportunities for process improvement, making recommendations where necessary and adopting a continuous improvement approach using Lean manufacturing methods. Documentation and reporting: Prepare and maintain detailed documentation of manufacturing processes, SOPs and quality control procedures. ERP Integration and Maintenance Implementation of the ERP data BOMs, work centers, hourly rates. Ensure the system is functioning correctly and efficiently and continuously seek ways to optimise its performance. Oversee data accuracy and integrity, ensuring information is up-to-date and reliable. Monitor productivity rates, standards, OTD and quality control. People Management and Support Coordinate and supervise staff activities, reviewing performance and initiating corrective actions as required. Ensure training and skills development for new and existing employees to enhance team capabilities. The Production Manager must work closely with and oversee cross-functional teams, including Quality Assurance, Production Supervisors, Material Handling/Logistics, and Maintenance departments. This role ensures alignment across all areas to meet production targets while maintaining high quality standards, equipment reliability, and material flow efficiency. The manager is responsible for coordinating schedules, resolving interdepartmental issues, prioritising maintenance activities to minimise downtime and ensuring that all operations contribute to continuous improvement and on-time delivery. Support 5S initiatives to contribute to a Zero-Harm work environment. Quality Management & Continuous Improvement Own internal and external quality compliance to ensure all products meet required standards, working with Quality Controller to maintain ISO and other accreditations. Implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) using structured problem-solving tools. Apply Lean Manufacturing principles to reduce waste, improve efficiency and enhance product quality. Establish and maintain production process controls to minimise scrap and maximise first-pass quality, with production operators. Health & Safety The Production Manager is responsible for promoting a strong health and safety culture on the factory floor. They ensure compliance with all safety regulations, lead risk assessments and manage incident investigations. The manager oversees employee safety training, develops safe operating procedures and ensures emergency preparedness. They work closely with Maintenance, Supervisors, and Health & Safety Officers to maintain equipment safety, enforce PPE usage and drive continuous safety improvements across all operations. Must have required Experience & Skills 1.10+ years of experience in manufacturing production supervisor role, or 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing production management role, preferably in a fast-growing SME environment. 2.Proven expertise in ERP system integration and usage (Progress Plus ERP preferred). 3.Hands-on experience with Lean Manufacturing, process optimisation and quality improvement initiatives. 4.Excellent competency in understanding CAD and mechanical drawings. 5.Strong leadership skills, with experience managing teams of 20-50 employees. 6.Ability to analyse data and drive performance improvements based on KPIs. 7.Experience managing machine maintenance schedules to ensure consistent production output. 8.Strong problem-solving abilities, with knowledge of structured methodologies (8D, RCA, CAPA). 9. Excellent planning, communication and change management skills, including people development and training.
