Overview Company: Dawn Meats Job Description: Operations Student Placement Programme 2026 Location: We offer placements at multiple sites across Ireland, including Grannagh (Co. Waterford) Ballyhaunis (Co. Mayo) Charleville (Co. Cork) Kildare town (Co. Kildare) Job type: Full time, 6-month Fixed Term Contract with a possibility to extend further. Remuneration: This is a paid placement position that comes with a financial bursary. About Dawn Meats: Dawn Meats is a premium meat processor and supplier of choice for a range of leading supermarkets, food service and restaurant businesses. Established in 1980, Dawn Meats is an industry leader with annual revenues of over €2bn, employing over 8,000 staff in 15 countries and exporting to over 50 countries. Responsibilities Role Summary: Dawn Meats are running a professional work experience programme in order to give 3 rd level students the opportunity to gain experience in a fast-paced, manufacturing environment. The idea of the placement is to allow the successful candidates to experience the day-to-day operations of a meat processing factory and to gain skills that will be transferable as they venture into the workplace following the completion of their 3 rd level course. This placement programme will encompass project work that will enhance your knowledge of the industry and will allow you to see your work implemented in the production environment. You will Experience: Being part of a driven team Personalised guidance through a workbook and regular reviews Collaboration with other departments Project work Challenges and risks associated with the meat industry Experience to the meat supply chain Bespoke training programmes Presentation experience with professionals in the industry Lean management The successful candidate will be based in our primary production will gain experience in the following areas. Boning Hall Abattoir Commercial Sales Office Lairage/Cattle Procurement Loading Bay Coldstore Despatch/Transport Health and Safety Human Resources Qualifications The successful candidate will possess the below Skills & Attributes: Excellent organisation skills and time management. Ability to take ownership of queries/issues, bringing them to a successful conclusion. Enthusiastic attitude to the challenge of the role with a positive can-do approach to tasks. Ability to multi-task and work independently with minimal supervision. Candidate must be able to work with others in cross-functional role & environment. Good IT Skills.
