Overview Join AXA XL as a Reserving Second Opinion Actuary in APAC Europe. This role supports the risk management team with technical reserve assessments and independent opinions, influencing strategic decisions across the global insurance and reinsurance business.
Responsibilities Conduct regular technical and reserve valuation analyses across relevant lines of business. Develop and select reserving assumptions and methodologies, reviewing, challenging and ensuring their appropriateness.
Provide AXA XL and Group Senior Management with an independent opinion on technical reserves and profitability. Perform two annual reserve assessments and present conclusions to senior management.
Act as a subject matter expert on reserving issues relating to AXA XL’s APAC Europe insurance and reinsurance lines.
Contribute to transversal profitability reviews and performance analyses, working closely with underwriting and pricing teams.
Present, explain and justify results to actuarial reserving and pricing teams and to senior management.
Improve team processes by developing tools and enhancing existing tools for efficiency and reliability.
Support regulatory requirements, internal projects (e.g. IFRS 17), and ensure local policies and procedures meet standard requirements.
Qualifications Qualified actuary with 2+ years post‑qualification experience.
Technical expertise in reserving and modelling for P&C commercial and corporate long‑tail insurance risks.
Proficiency in Excel, SQL, VBA, Python, Power Query and data analytics techniques.
Strong understanding of underwriting, claims, and reserve assessment connections.
Excellent interpersonal, organisational and communication skills.
Capacity to work independently, manage multiple tasks and adapt to new situations.
