Who We Are

The Data Platform team is responsible for building and maintaining the scalable, high-performance data infrastructure that powers Toast's analytical capabilities. We're a team of data enthusiasts who are passionate about leveraging cutting-edge technologies to drive business insights and decision-making. Our focus is on creating data products for other Toasters to leverage, and we're looking for an enthusiastic engineer to realize that vision.

About this roll * (Responsibilities)

Use the data infrastructure to build and deliver meaningful data to our customers
Work closely with a small group of engineers across a broad spectrum of projects.
Drive the evolution of our data architecture, ensuring scalability, reliability, and maintainability
Mentor and guide engineers, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, inclusivity, and engineering excellence
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive business outcomes through data-driven insights
Set a high bar for code quality, testing, and documentation, ensuring our data solutions meet the highest standards
Build and maintain strong partnerships across lines of business, aligning technical solutions with strategic objectives

Do you have the right ingredients* ? (Requirements)

2-3 years experience working with SQL on complex datasets is a must for this role
2-3 years experience of an application programming language, such as Java, Python, Javascript.
Experience working within the data analysis ecosystem on top of platforms such as Spark, Iceberg, Databricks, or Snowflake.
Knowledge of microservice based architecture operating at scale, preferably in a cloud environment such as AWS.
Experience with Java, Groovy, Kotlin or JVM-based language is a plus.
Experience with Apache Iceberg, Apache Druid, Apache Flink is a plus.
This is a hybrid role requiring two days per week in our Dublin office**
