Audit Manager
The Audit Manager is responsible for the execution of audit engagements, which includes planning, developing the project’s scope, maintaining the budget and timeframes of the project to meet audit requirements, and ensuring department standards are properly met. This role is within the Asset Servicing Audit Team, part of the global Audit Services department, and will report directly to an Associate Director.
The successful candidate will contribute towards upholding the design and operating effectiveness of the internal Asset Servicing control environment. The Audit Manager will be responsible for interacting with Senior and Executive management, leveraging technical expertise to evaluate risk areas across Asset Servicing and related regulatory topics. While this role is an individual contributor position, it also involves providing coaching and guidance to junior audit project team members such as training new employees or those with lesser experience, reviewing the work of others, and providing regular feedback.
Major Duties:
1. Coordinate and collaborate with the global Asset Servicing audit team on the identification of risk areas and execution of audit deliverables as part of the overall Asset Servicing audit plan.
2. Demonstrate professional scepticism, evaluate business processes, controls and operating practices during audit related work.
3. Evidence effective audit team review and challenge to assess the overall quality of control design, operating effectiveness, implementation and sustainability.
4. Project-manage assigned audit deliverables end-to-end, overseeing audit team staffing, assigning team tasks and monitoring the audit budget to ensure work is performed within established timeframes.
5. Review audit team output such as work-paper documentation, testing findings and recommendations ensuring adherence to Department standards.
6. Establish and develop strong working relationships with key stakeholders.
7. Display strong presentation and communication skills in presenting audit findings to stakeholders and audit management.
8. Interact regularly with Senior and Executive Management to assess risk, business changes and other significant events that could impact the business and/or the audit plan.
9. Understand and assist in the implementation of data analytic techniques to support testing/assessment of the area under review.
10. Draft the final report to ensure appropriate adherence to the Department’s Policies and Standards.
11. Conduct continuous monitoring meetings with the Asset Servicing business and Audit Services management.
12. Develop and demonstrate an ongoing understanding of Asset Servicing business risks, controls, and processes.
13. Maintain a knowledge base on regulatory rules and regulatory changes within the Asset Servicing industry.
14. Manage and perform special projects as assigned.
15. Role is balanced between audit execution and development, and contributing towards monitoring the strategic direction of business function activities.
Skills/Qualifications:
1. A College or University degree.
2. Extensive experience in financial services or a similar regulated industry, with several years of strong experience related to auditing/risk management/compliance, or similar industry experience.
3. Knowledge of regulatory standards and/or frameworks.
4. Strong analytical, leadership and organizational skills.
5. Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written forms including report writing and work paper documentation skills.
6. Professional certifications (e.g., CPA, CISA, CIA, ACA, ACCA) or proven technical abilities in related areas (e.g., regulatory compliance, risk management, auditing, compliance).
7. Knowledge of data analytics tools and techniques that can be applied to support audit testing/assessments.
8. Ability to manage through issues and realign priorities and deliverables as needed.
