Global E-Commerce company based in Blanchardstown is looking to hire a number of Software Engineer working with Distributed Databases / Cloud DB Storage.

About the Role and the Team:

A leading global e-commerce platform is seeking a Senior Engineer to join its Cloud Databases and Storage organization. This team builds and operates petabyte-scale core data platforms that support large-scale database, storage, caching, and media infrastructure.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to architect, develop, and manage the next generation of distributed database and storage systems—critical to the infrastructure behind a major global commerce operation. You’ll work closely with fellow engineers, business stakeholders, customers, and product managers to scale and optimize core data infrastructure.

What you will accomplish:

You will be building and managing massively scalable database and storage systems.

- As a self-motivated and enthusiastic technical leader of our team, you will collaborate with extremely inquisitive and proficient peers leading and designing data infrastructure using your strong background in distributed systems, storage and large-scale database systems
- You will work in an agile environment with a focus on problem solving and engineering precision. As a technical leader you are expected to assess technology problems, design optimal solutions and drive implementation to meet the business expectations
- You will collaborate closely with peers Architects, Engineering leaders and Product Managers to develop innovative solutions that meet functional and non-functional standards and expectations
- As a senior technical leader, you will guide junior and senior engineers in your team and also across other cloud teams in building scalable, high speed, distributed systems and advocate for meeting the design and quality standards
- You will contribute to the design, development, testing, release, triage, bug fix, documentation and rest of the cycles in product development and maintenance
- As a key influencer of the organization, you should bring in new ideas to adapt to technological developments and industry best practices that will create lasting impact its customers

Skill and experience:

- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science plus 8+ years of experience or MS in Computer Science plus 6+ years of hands-on experience in building large-scale distributed systems
- Excellent understanding of computer science fundamentals, data structures and algorithms
- Experience in architecting, designing and developing large-scale, multi-tiered, distributed software systems, storage and databases
- Extensive hands-on experience and expertise in Object-Oriented Design, Distributed Programming, and: C++, Java and various database systems (NoSQL and relational) at scale
- Drive architecture discussions, produce well-documented design docs, and participate in design and code reviews
- Ensure code quality and maintainability by evolving architecture and tech stack, refactoring, standards and improving build and test systems
- Share engineering support, release, and on-call responsibilities for an always-on 24x7 site
