Who We Are
Galway University Hospitals, comprising of University Hospital Galway (UHG) and Merlin Park University Hospital (MPUH), provide a comprehensive range of services to emergency and elective patients on an inpatient, outpatient and day care basis across the two sites. GUH plays a leadership role in acute service delivery providing regional services for a wide range of specialties and is also a designated supra regional centre for cancer and cardiac services.

Proposed Interview Dates: Interviews will be held as soon as possible after the closing date. Candidates will normally be given at least one week's notice of interview. The timescale may be reduced in exceptional circumstances.

There is one permanent vacancy at present. Initial assignment will be to Galway University Hospital. The successful candidate may be required to work in any service area within the vicinity as the need arises. A panel may be formed for Galway University Hospital from which current and future permanent and specified purpose vacancies of full or part-time duration may be filled.

Depending on specialty chosen, candidates must:
1. Medical: Demonstrate depth and breadth of experience in relation to nursing practice within Medical nursing as relevant to the role.
2. Surgical: Demonstrate depth and breadth of experience in relation to nursing practice within Surgical nursing as relevant to the role.
3. Cancer Services: Demonstrate depth and breadth of experience in relation to nursing practice within Cancer Services (comprises Haematology, Oncology, Radiotherapy, Lung Cancer, Palliative Care) as relevant to the role.
4. Emergency: Demonstrate depth and breadth of experience in relation to nursing practice within Emergency nursing as relevant to the role.
5. Critical Care: Demonstrate depth and breadth of experience in relation to nursing practice within Critical Care nursing as relevant to the role.
