About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and results-driven

Business Development Manager

to join our UK&I Hire division. This is a field-based role with responsibility for driving new business opportunities, expanding market share, and strengthening relationships with customers across a defined geographical region. You will play a key role in delivering revenue growth through both new customer acquisition and the development of existing accounts, using a mix of face-to-face engagement and digital platforms.

About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and results-driven

Business Development Manager

to join our UK&I Hire division. This is a field-based role with responsibility for driving new business opportunities, expanding market share, and strengthening relationships with customers across a defined geographical region. You will play a key role in delivering revenue growth through both new customer acquisition and the development of existing accounts, using a mix of face-to-face engagement and digital platforms.

Key Responsibilities

- Identify, target, and secure new business opportunities across the construction, engineering, and industrial sectors.

- Proactively grow revenue and profitability from a regional portfolio of customers and project sites.

- Build and maintain strong client relationships with main contractors, subcontractors, and key stakeholders.

- Maintain a robust sales pipeline and deliver consistent growth in line with business objectives.

- Lead localised sales initiatives and support national campaigns to position Speedy as the first-choice provider.

- Conduct a minimum of 25 client meetings or site visits per week, driving engagement at all levels.

- Collaborate closely with internal teams to ensure smooth onboarding, service delivery, and customer satisfaction.

- Provide commercial expertise in pricing, proposals, and contract negotiations.

- Support debt management and mitigate financial risk across your customer base.

- Record and track all activity, opportunities, and performance via the CRM system.

- Champion the use of digital tools, including social media and video engagement, to drive brand presence and customer interaction.

- Deliver competitor and market intelligence to support strategic decision-making.

- Promote health & safety compliance and support sustainability objectives under Speedy’s “Decade to Deliver” strategy.

About You

We’re looking for someone with:

- Proven business development or sales experience, ideally within construction, hire, or engineering sectors.

- Strong commercial acumen with a track record in winning and growing accounts.

- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a consultative, solutions-driven approach.

- Ability to engage and influence decision-makers at all levels.

- Self-motivation, resilience, and the drive to consistently exceed targets.

- Knowledge of construction site environments and sector dynamics.

- Confidence using CRM systems and lead generation tools (e.g. Barbour ABI).

- Adaptability to support digital transformation and embrace new ways of working.

- A valid UK driving licence and flexibility to travel within the region.
