They will train and ensure all staff are fully trained and competent in their areas. Primary Duties and Responsibilities: Housekeeping Conduct a full audit of the cleaning schedule and standards in UPMC Kildare Hospital. Development of Quality Improvement Plans within all areas of the hospital. Ensure that all staff are fully trained in all areas. Conduct training with staff and sign them off as competent. Development of policies and procedures in line with CHKS and HIQA. Work closely with the ADON IPC for UPMC Ireland. Ensure there is education and awareness of policies. To evaluate and review existing practices and where necessary manage the introduction of improved practices. Ensure that all equipment is operated in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions and that all defects are reported promptly to the maintenance department. To regularly evaluate and monitor systems used ensuring high standards are maintained. To act as a role model within the department, motivating staff to maintain excellent standards of performance. Catering Work effectively with the kitchen team to ensure high standards in relation to: The preparation, cooking, dispatch and serving of food and beverages to patients, staff and visitors as directed. Ensuring correct storage of food and beverages Ensure cleaning schedules are maintained using recommended detergents, to leave equipment, kitchen and service areas hygienic at the end of the shift. Ensure the team are adhering to good practice with regard to hygiene, health and safety and HACCP. Minimising waste, improving waste reduction. Ensuring that all food production is in line with high food standards. Ensure accurate records are maintained within the kitchen and catering department and ensure Catering Assistants are trained to do so. Manage the day to day of the Catering Team including rostering, annual leave requests etc. Ensure team members are trained on placing order for the kitchen and catering department and ensure there is accountability to do so. Professional Accountability and Development Ensure you remain professionally updated and ensure care in all areas is delivered in line with the latest research to promote evidence-based participate in research where appropriate for the benefit of patients. Provide a supportive and learning environment in the Hospital, which enables the educational and professional development needs of staff to be met. Ensure that statutory rules, guidelines and legislation are understood and complied with. Ensure that standards of care are safeguarded, and all staff are aware of the need for patients and clients. High quality care is recognised as of primary importance. Act as a positive role model with regards to the Hospital ethos. Quality and Audit Participate and assist as required in clinical audit and research activity within the field, promoting a positive attitude towards the implementation of Participate in local audits in preparation for annual accreditation. Work closely with the Quality and Patient Safety team, ensuring the department is meeting accreditation standards at all times. Undertake research/ clinical audit as necessary, critically analyse and provide written reports of the same. Health and Safety To uphold UPMC Kildare Hospital's policy requirements in relation to Fire, Infection Control, Radiation Safety and Health and Safety at work regulations and to attend updates. Identify potential risks for all staff, patients and visitors and adhere to relevant incident reporting procedures. Qualifications & Experience: Housekeeping Previous experience working in a hospital or healthcare setting. Excellent people management and organisation skills.
