Ecologist Opportunity
We are seeking a motivated and experienced Senior Ecologist to join our Environment division. As a key member of our Biodiversity Service Line, you will work on various projects contributing to sustainable transport infrastructure.
Your Key Responsibilities:
- Manage small to medium-scale projects and provide input on large-scale projects, including transport infrastructure projects.
- Be the main point of contact with project managers, clients, partner organisations, and sub-consultants.
- Plan and undertake ecological surveys, clerk of work programmes, and produce high-quality reports.
- Undertake ecological mitigation design and delivery, liaise with ecological regulators and planning authorities, and deliver technical work on complex projects.
- Prepare proposals and assist with client relationship management.
- Supervise and manage ecologists, and contribute to resource planning.
At Principal Grade:
- Effectively plan, manage, and mentor an ecology team within a consultancy environment.
- Review reports, including EIA chapters, HRA, precautionary methods of work, and species licence applications.
- Deliver complex projects on time and manage them to budget, as well as develop business opportunities and manage client relationships.
About You:
- Proficient user of MS Office tools and ideally ArcGIS.
- Familiar with digital data capture techniques in ecology fieldwork.
- Experienced in fieldwork and application of survey techniques in accordance with best practice guidance.
- Ability to communicate effectively in written and spoken English to a range of audiences.
- Capable of producing clear and concise written documents for a range of purposes.
- Hold one or more protected species survey licences (ideally bats) and have experience of holding or implementing development licences.
- Good knowledge of relevant environmental/ecology legislation, understanding of planning systems in Ireland and Northern Ireland, and integration of ecology.
- Full clean driving licence, willingness to undertake surveys at unsociable hours, and flexibility to allow occasional working away from home.
