Specialist Gastroenterologist Opportunity

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Consultant in Gastroenterology & General Medicine to join our medical team at a regional hospital in Ireland.

The role involves delivering high-quality patient care, contributing to innovative medical practices, and working in a supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver specialist diagnosis, management, and treatment of gastroenterological conditions including IBD, Hepatology, Functional GI disorders, Upper & lower GI cancer pathways, and Nutrition services.
  • Provide endoscopic services such as diagnostic and therapeutic OGD, colonoscopy, polypectomy, and participate in the BowelScreen Programme.
  • Contribute to the General Medical on-call rota, provide acute medical assessment and inpatient care, and support the Acute Medical Assessment Unit (AMAU) and Emergency Department interface.
  • Run specialist outpatient clinics, supervise day-case and inpatient gastroenterology care, and admit, assess, and manage patients as part of the general medical take.
Requirements to Apply:
  • Full registration with the Irish Medical Council (IMC) – Specialist Division in General Internal Medicine & Gastroenterology must be active and in place to secure an interview.
  • Extensive post-graduate Consultant experience in Gastroenterology and completion of EU or UK specialist training (CCST or equivalent).
