Transmission and Distribution (T&D)

We support the network development which will underpin grid modernisation. Our experts are involved at all stages of grid modernisation – and so can you be if you join us.

Your Role

As a Lead Cable Designer, you'll assist the team in the development and delivery of cable systems activities. You'll contribute your technical expertise into bids and proposals and represent the company in client meetings as appropriate.

Your main cable systems design activities include:

  1. HVDC/HVAC cable calculations: develop cable burial route risk assessments, landfall, and cable protection systems for offshore, subsea applications.
  2. Gathering and correlating engineering data: using established and well-defined procedures, and generating detailed cable reports.
  3. Developing detailed offshore routine engineering assignments: HVAC/HVDC, IAC and export cable design, for both static and dynamic systems.
  4. Proposing approaches to solve problems encountered: using modifications of standard procedures or methods developed in previous assignments.
  5. Reviewing and optimising: design, routing, installation, commissioning and de-commissioning solutions.

Your projects will include HVDC Interconnectors, HVAC Interconnectors, and HVAC and HVDC Offshore Windfarm projects.

You'll have opportunities to:

  1. Perform work in accordance with agreed schedules with little supervision.
  2. Independently perform tasks necessary to complete primary design elements for engineering works to standard and compliant regulations.
  3. Coordinate across project disciplines, external subcontractors and remote offices such that technical risks are identified and mitigated, and all statutory and regulatory requirements are met.
