About Us
Orchard Residential Care provides services to support young people who are unable to live with their own families and are referred to our service by TUSLA.
We provide a safe space for young people to grow and develop, exploring and supporting them with past trauma, building on their resilience, and developing life skills.
This position is ideal for those who enjoy working in a team and want to provide support to children and young people who have experienced trauma in their early years and to the teams who support these young people.
Purpose of the RoleThe successful candidate will be responsible for providing a psychology service as part of a dedicated and innovative team within a Residential Service.
They will work in line with service plans and objectives and within established professional standards, guidelines, and policy, including HIQA/TUSLA regulations & standards.
Main Responsibilities- Provide psychological assessments of young residents, based on the appropriate use, interpretation, and integration of data from a variety of sources.
- Exercise professional responsibility for the treatment and discharge of young persons, using appropriate, evidence-based psychological interventions.
- Communicate effectively and work collaboratively with Care team members and others to ensure integrated service provision.
The successful candidate must have a university honours degree (QQI Level 8/QCF Level 6) obtained with 1st or 2nd class honours, in which Psychology was taken as a major subject.
They must also have an Irish post-graduate professional Psychology qualification, accredited by the Psychological Society of Ireland in Clinical, Counselling, or Educational Psychology OR, an equivalent post-graduate professional Psychology qualification from another jurisdiction, approved by the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
Candidates must hold a full clean driver's licence as the post involves travel between services.
They must demonstrate that they have acquired experience in appropriate health care settings, in working with children and adolescents with complex needs.
Candidates must also be aware of and where appropriate, recommend referral of a young person to external services.
