Automation Systems Engineer Job Description

This is a senior-level role responsible for the development, commissioning, and support of automation and control systems. The successful candidate will be working with Siemens and similar technologies.

The key responsibilities of this position include developing, commissioning, and supporting automation and control systems. Additionally, the engineer will design, specify, program, simulate, test, and provide start-up assistance for these systems.

Maintenance, development, troubleshooting, and validation of these systems in a compliant manner are also essential skills required for this role.

We require strong experience working with Siemens PLC Systems. Knowledge/experience with SCADA, Control Systems, Vision Systems, Pack equipment systems, Cognex, Serialization, SQL database systems, IT/Networking, and High level language programming would be advantageous.

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or equivalent, with an emphasis on software development, electrical, electronic, or automation, is required. A minimum of 5 years' experience in industry, preferably in pharmaceutical, biotechnology, blue chip, or GMP manufacturing environment, is also necessary.

This role requires excellent communication, problem-solving, stakeholder, and vendor management skills. Strong exposure to automation systems integration and solution design in life sciences or medical devices is highly desirable.

This position is fully onsite in Sligo, Ireland. Therefore, the successful candidate must be based in Sligo or within a reasonable commute. Only candidates with a current valid work permit to work in Ireland can be considered due to project timelines.
