Job Title

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Aquatic Ecologist to lead our nationwide team in delivering aquatic ecology projects.

This role involves shaping and delivering aquatic ecology elements across major projects primarily within the water sector, while also supporting work in energy, infrastructure, and development.

Key responsibilities include designing and executing surveys for macroinvertebrates, fish, macrophytes, and invasive species, as well as providing technical input into environmental impact assessments and Water Framework Directive compliance work.

As a seasoned professional, you will have broad knowledge of UK aquatic ecology, spanning freshwater environments, and ideally some exposure to marine or transitional settings.

You will bring proven experience in designing, implementing, and interpreting aquatic ecology and water quality surveys for EIA, HRA, WFD, and other relevant frameworks.

Familiarity with assessment tools (e.g., RICT, DARLEQ2/3), ecological reporting software, and GIS data analysis is essential.

Strategic insight and commercial awareness, including project leadership and client relationship development, are also highly valued.

A degree in environmental science, aquatic ecology, or a related field is required. Progress toward or attainment of Chartered Status (e.g., CEnv, CEcol) and membership of a relevant professional body (e.g., CIEEM, IFM, RSB) are preferred.
