Automation Engineer

We are seeking a highly motivated and adaptable Automation Engineer to join our multi-disciplinary engineering team. The ideal candidate will have a Degree Qualified Engineer qualification in Automation / Electrical / Electronic or equivalent, with experience in System Integration, PLC, DCS process automation and GAMP, 21 CFR Part 11, ISA standards (S88, S95, S99).

The role of the Automation Engineer involves developing Control System Concepts/Automation Philosophies, designing Control System Architecture drawings, coordinating Process, Instrumentation and Automation design development, automating Specification and Support of Vendor Package Equipment, generating Technical Specifications/User Requirements, tendering Bespoke/Stick-Build Automation Packages, including Technical Bid Analysis.

The successful candidate will work closely with the project team to deliver projects within the broad industrial and pharmaceutical sectors. They will also be responsible for managing Automation Life-Cycles for Bespoke/Stick-Build Automation Packages, Factory Acceptance Testing of Bespoke/Stick-Build Automation Packages, Commissioning & Qualification (C&Q) and peer-reviews of 3rd party Automation Designs.

The key responsibilities include:

  • Development of control system concept and automation philosophies
  • Design of control system architecture drawings
  • Coordination and/or alignment of process, instrumentation and automation design development
  • Automation specification and support of vendor package equipment
  • Generation of technical specifications/user requirements
  • Tender of bespoke/stick-build automation packages, including technical bid analysis
  • Generation and/or review of process automation descriptions
  • Management of automation life-cycles for bespoke/stick-build automation packages
  • Factory acceptance testing of bespoke/stick-build automation packages
  • Commissioning and qualification (c&q)
  • Peer-reviews of 3rd party automation designs
