Our organization seeks a Senior Database Architect to design, develop and maintain scalable database platforms. This role involves leading the development of database solutions, ensuring high availability, security, and compliance with industry regulations.

The ideal candidate will have expertise in designing and implementing PostgreSQL database architectures, analyzing complex queries, and optimizing database configurations for high performance.

We are looking for a subject matter expert who can provide guidance on best practices, review code, document technical details, and mentor staff. The successful candidate will also be responsible for developing tools and automation to provision, monitor, backup, migrate, and deploy databases.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement scalable PostgreSQL database architectures for high availability, partitioning, replication, and disaster recovery
  • Analyze and optimize complex queries, indexing strategies, and database configurations
  • Monitor performance and proactively address bottlenecks in queries and data flows
  • Implement strong security standards (RBAC, encryption, security best practices) and ensure regulatory compliance
  • Tune databases via query analysis (EXPLAIN), indexing (B-tree, GIN, GiST), configuration changes, and use of partitioning and materialized views as needed for scale
  • Act as a subject matter expert for development, operations, and business teams; provide guidance on best practices, review code, document technical details, and mentor staff
  • Develop tools and automation to provisioning, monitoring, backups, migrations, and deployments; build backend services that integrate with PostgreSQL
  • Implement PL/pgSQL functions, triggers, and procedures to support business logic
  • Collaborate on CI/CD pipelines for database changes with DevOps/SRE teams; participate in incident response and root cause analysis for production issues
  • Design and maintain high availability and disaster recovery strategies; ensure compliance with industry regulations and internal security standards

Mentor developers and junior database engineers on SQL optimization, schema design, and performance tuning. Proficiency in PostgreSQL and Oracle data types to support migrations is required. The ability to guide enterprise data management strategies with PostgreSQL as a foundational platform is essential.
