Senior Design Engineering Position

We are seeking an experienced Senior Design Engineer to lead our Galway office and play a key role in shaping the future of our building services consultancy.

This is a senior leadership position suitable for a Mechanical or Electrical engineer with strong technical ability, project leadership experience, and the drive to build and grow a regional team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading local operations, managing team performance, and delivering high-quality engineering design across a range of building projects.

About the Job

A leading sustainability-driven building services consultancy is looking for an experienced Principal Design Engineer to head up its new Galway office. This is a challenging opportunity for a highly skilled and motivated individual to take on a senior leadership role and make a significant impact on our business.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the Galway office and manage all aspects of team performance and project delivery.
  • Deliver high-quality mechanical or electrical engineering design across a range of building projects.
  • Ensure projects meet performance, quality, and budget expectations.
  • Act as a key point of contact for clients and help strengthen long-term relationships.
  • Play a strategic role in developing the Galway office, including business development and recruitment.
  • Mentor and support junior engineers, promoting technical excellence and career growth.
  • Champion best practice and sustainability-led design within the team.
Requirements
  • Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (or a closely related discipline).
  • Chartered Engineer status (or working towards it).
  • 8+ years experience in a building services design role, with proven leadership on complex projects.
  • Proficient in relevant design software (e.g. Revit, IES, Amtech).
  • Knowledge of BIM processes and environmental assessment methods such as BREEAM.
  • Strong client relationship management and business development skills.
  • Full right to work in Ireland.
