Job Description

The successful candidate will be responsible for performing a variety of tasks related to mechanical maintenance, including hands-on planned and reactive maintenance activities in a heavy mechanical work environment.

This role will involve working with a wide range of mechanical equipment and processes, from valves to large rotating equipment, as well as interacting effectively with other station staff and contractors.

The Mechanical Maintenance Fitter will play an integral part of the maintenance team, contributing to the safe, reliable and efficient operation of the generating plant and equipment.


Key Responsibilities
  • Perform all aspects of hands-on planned and reactive mechanical maintenance fitting activities.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records using computerized maintenance management systems.
  • Prepare and review task-specific method statements and risk assessments.
  • Carry out authorized roles under safety rules as required.

Required Skills and Qualifications

The successful candidate will possess recent 2-5 years' experience in thermal, hydro, or renewable generation plant hands-on mechanical maintenance, or equivalent.

They will also hold a Senior Trade qualification in mechanical fitting, or equivalent, along with experience working on valves, pumps, gearboxes, installation and removal of heavy plant equipment.

A strong safety culture, ability to follow maintenance procedures, and good IT skills are essential requirements for this role.

Full B driving licence and knowledge of power station mechanical maintenance procedures or mechanical maintenance practices in similar heavy process industries are also necessary.
