Bethesda Health Group is seeking a skilled Clinical Education Specialist to join our team. This role involves developing and implementing orientation and training programs for nursing staff, with a focus on regulatory compliance and patient safety.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive corporate-approved orientation program for all employees, emphasizing regulatory issues surrounding long-term care and company values.
  • Conduct general orientation sessions using corporate guidelines, incorporating relevant OSHA and federal/state regulations into the program.
  • Incorporate staff and resident safety measures, such as emergency preparedness, fire safety, security, injury prevention, and teaching programs for staff dealing directly or indirectly with Alzheimer's residents.
  • Coordinate and monitor orientation activities throughout the process.
  • Provide input into evaluation of new hires and recommend release from or extension of orientation based on learning needs.
  • Assist with mentorship programs and promote a culture of staff development.
  • Develop lesson plans and conduct in-service programs, including mandatory in-services.
  • In-service new and revised policies and procedures.
  • Teach staff basic computer skills related to their job duties.
  • Collaborate closely with the Director of Nursing (DON) to promote teamwork and quality care issues.
  • Develop and implement an ongoing infection prevention and control program.
  • Provide education to staff, residents, and families where appropriate.
  • Participate in continuous quality improvement (QAPI) activities.

Required Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
  • BSN or related baccalaureate preparation in education preferred
  • Current RN license in the state of employment
  • CPR/AED certification required or willingness to obtain within six months of employment
  • Certified as a CPR instructor is highly desirable
  • Minimum of five years of recent clinical nursing experience required
  • Educational and supervisory/management experience preferred
  • Previous experience in long-term care required
  • Ability to manage time and organize daily schedule to meet productivity standards
  • Computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite and other programs like EMR
  • Possesses integrity, initiative, and loyalty
  • Must possess good communication skills and demonstrate ability to teach adults
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
  • Ability to lift heavy objects using proper lifting techniques and with assistance as needed
  • Ability to transfer and move residents who vary in ability to assist weighing 200+lbs using proper lifting techniques and with assistance as needed
  • Ability to push and pull equipment weighing over 40lbs using proper techniques and with assistance as needed
  • Manual dexterity, coordination, and skillful use of hands when working with residents and equipment
  • Ability to perform necessary documentation
  • Visual acuity
  • Must be able to manage diverse activities
  • Good organization, critical thinking, problem-solving, and mentoring skills
  • High degree of ability in using tact, diplomacy, and discretion
  • Must be able to concentrate with frequent interruptions and multiple distractions
  • A preference for understanding and responding to the physical and psychosocial needs of the geriatric population required
